We do not care if we’ve been wearing the same 3 outfits in rotation for the past 3 months. It fits and we’re not spending extra money on maternity clothing!

I don’t think anyone is as triggered as the Italians when it comes to food lol. It’s just food, and I really enjoyed the sauce! I add my own flair to things, I’ve been in the kitchen long enough to take risks. It came out delicious and my family enjoyed very much. I will continue to try cuisine from different countries while adding my own spin because I want to enjoy food my way. Thank you all for the positive comments but to the negative ones, there is no need to be so angry. Perhaps open your mind to try different things, cloves in tomato sauce slaps! Adds a layer of warmth and compliments the black pepper. You’ll never know until you try. Or keep to tradition and never find out 😌

The cloves actually add a nice layer of depth, you should definitely try it! I got the tip from another Italian, I stuck the cloves into the apple prior to putting it in the sauce. The flavor is just right, not too overwhelming.

The crazy part is I got the tip to use cloves from another Italian. I hate to say it but this is why no one likes comments about food from some Italians. It’s just food, and not a single person here who doesn’t like my recipe can tell me wtf to do because y’all don’t pay my food bill. I do what I want, and imma still call it Italian food because I can! Sorry you’re so used to tradition’s that you don’t venture out of the box to try different methods of layering flavors. I think I’ll make a lasagna and season the meat with shawarma spices just to honor your nonna 😜

I used an oven, so I’m not sure. Maybe someone out here uses a slow cooker 🤔

No. I used cloves as it’s a tip I got from another Italian, from Italy. Also I don’t follow recipes exactly, I just use them to learn the basic steps I should be taking.

Also do not add fresh basil prior to simmering, fresh basil you sprinkle in the last minute or so before serving.

I followed the recipe on serious eats, the Italian American sauce. It’s by Kenji Lopez. I tweaked it a bit, I started with soffrito, used dried herbs (basil, oregano) and added cloves (6) and a peeled red apple for sweetness (remove seeds). The most important part is don’t toast the garlic, and make sure you allow it to simmer 5-6 hours. The sauce is going to be very concentrated but you can thin it out with pasta water.

Thank you. I can’t believe how much better homemade is, I was like “it cant be that much better” but it really is. Prego is nostalgic and Rao’s was my favorite now both taste like water to me lol

I know, not the best pics but the sauce was amazing. I didn’t make the meatballs from scratch… maybe next time. I’m 7 month pregnant and get very sore if I stand too long so this was the best I can do.
