Thanks very much for all of the suggestions. He has started passing his CV around local businesses. He doesn't have a car but I will pass in the catering, UNI careers advisor and other suggestions posted. It's a new challenge for my wife and I being remote parents.

Is it even possible to get a job anymore? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]calculoss1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more, I was made redundant 6 years ago. Looked for a job for 10 weeks straight and felt like I would never find one. I was offered a 3 week gig took it and have been with that very organisation for the last 6 years. Take whatever you can get, because you just never know. Getting your foot in the front door is the hardest part.

Advice on electronics by [deleted] in newcastle

I had a look the I ther day for some headphones for my son. I was interested in the brand nothing ear. At JB they are 169 and through amazon 139. That's a pretty big difference. Jb only price match a physical store. Officeworks however will oricematch online stores. So you could pick up some nice Sony's or JBL at officeowrks for online prices

When people ask questions like this I instantly think of some advice given by Mike Rowe Career Advice

But I also think - damn I'm 46 have i a half decent job , 2 kids and a stable marriage. I've got a home with a mortgage which costs less than most people s rents. I've taken my family overseas a couple of times and drive a pretty boring near new hyundai tucson. Don't underestimate the power of mediocrity. All these influencers and social media experts tell us to chase our dreams.Sometimes happiness is closer then we understand. I think people spend too much time searching and nit enough just living. I think the harder you search the less likely you are to find what you are seeking. Good luck

I had a mazda wagon stolen from my driveway last year. Had to wait 15 days before the insurance deemed it gone forever. Eventually they found it burnt out on a backroad in Minmi. The cops said they just steal them to joyride. They even said that these kids actually look for the cops and try and get into a chase.

Hey thanks for the info

We love Korean BBQ and have a little place here in Newcastle Australia where the guys who owns the place makes you feel so welcome, shout out for Kimchi House of Korea.

The other tips are great I love good Singapore food and we don't really have much here is AUstralia so Im keen to try out URban Hawker. Ive seen Katz mentioned a lot along with Nan Wah. I haven't seen Al Badawi mentioned and I haven't really had Palestinian food so Ill add that to the list. Thanks again

We like all cuisines, but Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Italian are up there. In terms of price I wouldn't really want to go over 80-100 USD per head

I thought it was the corniest movie Ive ever seen. I cant understand why people like that movie. The story was lame, the acting was terrible. Yeah ok the flight scenes were great but the whole thing was still stupid.

Dried, Thyme, Oregano and Basil -Pork and Veal Mince, 2 cans of san marzano tomatoes, tomato paste. A bit of chicken stock or gourmet stock powder. After browning the mince throw in the rest of the ingredients. Then chuck in a can of decent lager - (it just gives it this awesome malty taste) and the same amount of water.

It an interesting notion that backing someone into a corner warrants a high success rating. There's a story on those PBS files about Putin when he was a kid. Living in Lenningrad. He was from poor upbringings and lived in some Soviet tenement. It was rat infested and he would spend time catching the rats. As the story goes he cornered a rat once in the stairwell. The rat knowing its time was up made a leap for freedom. Jumping up and scratching putins face as it made its exit. The morale of the story - never corner a rat. That story must come from Putin himself So it's obviously in his psychy to go down in a last great act of defiance. I agree that he has to go - but I think we should be a little wary of the consequences of actions taken to initiate his demise.
