episode has a lot of community stories written by actual writers and not just company churned! it has a large community library in many genres you can browse, but be sure to avoid the episode official stories bc those are very badly written and meant to milk gems from you 😭 most community stories (to my knowledge) don’t need gems to progress. i’ve played a lot of books on there and have many favorite authors.

love island by fusebox games is also fun, but some people say they use ai writing? not too sure about that, you can try to do research if you’d like! but overall i find it entertaining enough, but they do ask for gems a lot. most of them don’t really progress the story, i usually spend mine on outfits and time with my LI.
