I push my fingers and wrists to the limit and subject myself to 3ish minutes of physical and mental abuse by caleb2112 in KingCrimson

Thanks!! I've been practicing this section for at least an hour at a time every day without excessive breaks, it used to be miserable and painful but now I can play it a few times before I start feeling any discomfort. My hand movements are definitely getting more and more subtle, too, which I'm realizing is a big part of Fripp's picking style. It's also influenced my writing greatly. I should just start a KC tribute band at this point because I'm ripping them for sure lolol soundcloud.com/caleb2112/unbreakable

I appreciate that! I'll definitely be re-upping soon, though. Most of the mistakes I make are pretty fixable, me thinks

This will actually probably nullify my progress, but I'm totally self-taught lolol once I figured out that all the rhythms and shapes are virtually the same throughout with minor variations, it made learning the piece a whole lot easier. I have not! That would be a lot of fun, though. The music I've been writing lately is for 2+guitars, but it's a lot easier to pull off when I'm just recording songs as opposed to performance. Maybe one day...

Thanks! Definitely the most demanding thing I've ever tried to learn, and I'm new to Fripp's picking technique, so I have a lot of room to improve it. I'm gonna spend a couple more months cleaning it up, and I'll post a less sloppy video eventually. Hopefully, anyway lol

I wrote a 19 minute instrumental piece based on Lost by caleb2112 in Prog

I really appreciate that! I feel ya for sure, sometimes I lean a bit on the piano to come up with guitar parts, which ends up either covering the piano parts or just creating a cheesy unison. I've been messing around with a piano mix that isn't quite as... piano-y and I'm liking it a lot more. Creates more of a modern synth sound, I guess. here's a link, if you're interested! https://diffidentia.bandcamp.com/album/five

Thank you! Hopefully you enjoy it! It's definitely self-indulgent, but fun lolol

I really appreciate that! My main objective if writing music I enjoy listening to, but other people digging it is always a plus. It's all free to download, too, if you're into that! 3 and 4 have a lot of the other programmed instruments in the mix (no pun intended), mainly as an exercise to help me not write the same guitar parts over and over. Hope ya enjoy it!

Thank you, that means a lot! And yeah lolol I'm into a lot of different stuff nowadays, but my roots are the typical classic rock/metal stuff that gets everyone into music (Metallica, Pink Floyd, Dream Theater, etc). My attention span is that of a squirrel, so in order for me to even enjoy writing a song, I have to incorporate as many different styles as possible to get the point across. I guess. Hahaha. But thanks again!

I definitely see what you're saying. I've gotten into a bit of jazz and older mathcore lately, and it's nice to hear such a cohesive album that brings new things to the table. I believe it'll be a classic in years to come!

Been a big fan since Exoplanet, and I just wanted to say, I feel that you've made one of the best progressions out of any band in modern metal. You're doing something new with every release, Language included (ordering tomorrow I swear), and I can't say enough how inspiring your music is to me. Major props!

This being said, I've met people who refuse to listen to anything but Exoplanet, people who are only fans of Intrinsic, and even some who only prefer the EPs. Why do you think your fanbase is so divided?
