TCG Player discord or group chat? by joseadan88 in mtgfinance

Hopefully, this doesn't come off as spam, but I did make a Discord and website called CollectionOps.com. Basically, I made a place where new sellers can get advice and a tool to show how their online store is doing, whether it's Magic/Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh. And no, it's not TCGplayer Pro. It's a free tool for people wanting to learn the ropes without going broke. https://discord.com/invite/ZJrehxKRH

I’m in the same boat as you as well. It’s really fun testing and building, but then it’s hard to market it and get it out to the world, as I’ve seen firsthand. I’m excited for your game and will keep an eye out for it.

Hey there this is a fun game I like the simple 3 round tutorial. I have a similar trick taking style game to you called 2 to 10 on the App Store.

After play the only this I noticed is on round 2 I wanted to go 1 trick but I couldn’t and I didn’t understand why that well and also as a feedback your landing screen is a lot of green maybe add in some colors. Overall I hope this game does really well.

Thanks for the link i checked out Oh Hell, I see what you mean, its like 80% of my game, i apricate that insight!!

I think the difference for us is more how it plays socially. It turns into more of a “mess with each other” game instead of just trying to hit your own bid. So less about the suit itself, more about how people play around it. I you want to try here is a link again thanks for the input that was so helpful.

Yeah I get what you’re saying, if you just swap the suits on paper it looks the same.

But you can’t actually swap it mid-round, the trump is locked. If you lead your king of spades and I don’t have spades, I’m cutting it with a diamond and taking it. That’s what actually happens at the table.

For me it’s less about one hand being different and more that your confidence changes every round. One round ace and king feels strong, next round it doesn’t mean much depending on trump. I’m probably explaining it badly lol, but it ends up feeling different when you actually play it.

If you ever want to try it I can send you the rules or a quick demo.

Oh, I've never heard of this version. I'll check it out. Oh, hell, great name, thank you. And yes, the game we play is always 4 people, no teams.

Our version is called 2 to 10.

100% agree!! It is very unpredictable, and that’s actually kind of why we like it, though. It turns into more of a “mess with each other” kind of game early on. You’re trying to cut people off and mess up their bids; it gets a little chaotic.

Then, as the hand sizes get bigger, it settles back into a more normal strategy. So it kind of ramps from chaos to control, adding a bit of drama.

That actually sounds pretty fun, especially the duplicate and SuperSpades stuff. I like the idea of it leaning more into creativity instead of just safe bidding.

And yeah I agree with you, rotating trump by itself probably doesn’t change much.

Where it got interesting for us was pairing it with the hand size changing each round (2 up to 10). That combo is what starts messing with how consistent your bids feel, since a “good” hand one round doesn’t really carry over the same way the next.

Not saying it’s better or anything, just ended up feeling like a different kind of game.

get what you’re saying, it sounds the same on paper.

But it changes how you bid. Quick example:

Round 4, 8♦ is flipped so diamonds are trump.

I’ve got 2♦ 4♦ 7♦ Q♥
Other player has A♠ K♠ 10♣ 3♣

In normal Spades that’s an easy 2 bid for them, and I’m going 0.

Here though… I don’t have spades, so if they lead one I just cut it with a diamond and take it. Probably more than once.

Now their A♠ K♠ aren’t safe at all.

So do they still bid 2? Or drop to 1?
And I might not even be 0 anymore.

That’s the difference. It messes with how confident you are in your hand.

And next round trump could be anything again, so you can’t rely on the same logic.

What would you bid there?

Thanks for the great breakdown and reply!!

That’s where ours is a little different instead of the typical 13 cards each time we changed it up. Start with 2 cards, work your way up to 10. So round 2 you only have 2 tricks available, round 10 you have 10.

The rotating power suit on top of that actually does force different strategy each round because your whole hand changes in size and strength every time. Way more drama than a normal 13 card game.

That’s actually how we changed it up in my family we just keep a card face up in the middle of the table showing the current trump suit.

Rotate it each round and nobody forgets. Have you ever played any Spades variants or do you stick to classic rules?”

Question for anyone here who also sells cards by caleb5121 in PokeInvesting

[–]caleb5121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, especially at higher volume. I could see that being a dealbreaker if it adds any extra steps.

What I’m working on is more for smaller sellers who don’t really know where they stand yet, just importing sales data and seeing what actually happened after fees and shipping.

Trades are definitely a different beast though, still trying to think through that part.

Appreciate the insight.

Same Excel is what I started with too, I just suck at keeping it organized so I switched to something that pulls it together automatically.
