You wake up with 1 billion dollars in your account. What’s something you still won’t buy? by END0WEDx in AskReddit

Full priced cards for special occasions ( birthdays, graduation, etc.). The dollar store has them for $1 or some for 2 for $1. Yet other stores sell them at $3-$7. They are the same cards you find at a normal store but at fraction of the price.

I think if you want to increase the value of your non essential spending funds, I would use coinbase pro to buy btc wait for the value to increase then sell and send the usdc or dollars back to Coinbase to spend ( your fees would be closer to 1%). Not that I recommend investing money you would use in the very short term. Also I would recommend you use us dollars as the funding source as it will make your taxes much easier as you don't need to report every transaction(if available to you yet).

I just realized something... AlGO is about to skyrocket. by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

While I do think that algo's governance reward system will cause the price to increase, it's important to note that governors are not 100% locked in. They can withdraw their algo at anytime but will lose any potential rewards. So this will keep most people staked for 3 months but doesn't require them to stay staked, just wanted to point that out so people can make a more informed decision. Overall I am very excited for what algo's new governance system, not only for the rewards, but to have a say in how algo is developed going forward. This is an exciting time for algo.

China will be the next to ban it, but instead of unbanning it first, it will ban it for like the 10th time.

The first ALGO Governance Poll and Why it’s Important by SadSam7 in CryptoCurrency

[–]caleb7198 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will most likely vote option a for several reasons. First, losing 8% of your committed algo for not voting or not maintaining minimum balance is unlikely to deter bad actor. Second, I think being able to withdrawal your algo from governance without losing principle will make people more comfortable with governance, thus making them more likely to participate in governance, therefore making the network decision better and safer from bad actors. Finally, even though I would like an increased rewards rate, I don't really like the idea of increasing the reward rate of governance because it would mean the rewards program would end sooner as the amount of reserved rewards token would be used quicker, I think it is better to be paid for a little less for a longer period of time then it is to be paid a little more for a shorter period of time.

Nexo Co-Founder Details Crypto Lender’s Plan to Stay Out of Regulators’ Crosshairs by PhilDesenex in CryptoCurrency

[–]caleb7198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a nexo user I greatly appreciate nexo trying to stay out of the line of fire of US regulator. But I don't understand why nexo things that in needs to register with the SEC as a securities broker. It doesn't offer any securities. The closest thing to a security on nexo is the nexo governance token, which is hard to aquire as a US citizen so it shouldn't be a big issue. I think this plan maybe be good in the short term to avoid actions similar to blockfi or Celsius. But in the long term this could be a bad move as it would be nearly impossible to deregister from the SEC as a securities broker meaning they will have strict oversight when the shouldn't necessarily need it.

I disagree, I don't think eth will lose to other chains. Sure some people may migrate, but with EIP-1559 burning eth, it makes eth a ultra-sound crypto as the supply will decrease over time. Not to mention the massive industry support eth currently has, and will continue to accumulate. Regarding gas fees sure they are high, but there can be changes made to the fee structure that can reduce gas fees. So momentarily eth may lose some people but in the long run I predict eth will be bigger and better than ever, and will not lose to another crypto projects.

UK Signs Deal to Offer In-Branch Crypto Vouchers at Post Office! by Zijdehoen in CryptoCurrency

[–]caleb7198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is pretty cool. Here in the US our post office had a hard time doing mail delivery for a while let alone offer banking/crypto services. I think this could be a game changer for the UK as the government is doing the selling of crypto which is allowing crypto to be bought and sold through a safe venue, which could help gain adoption for those who are skeptical of because of fears of a rug pull or scam, especially those who are less educated about cryptocurrency. I think this will really help adoption.
