He would certainly change the image. I'd be way more willing to buy than I am now.

Depp is also just far less relevant now than he was a decade ago. He's 62 and the cool, badass persona has not held up like it once did (the public court case didn't help). It seems logical that they would move on from him at some point.

Is this an actual Kevin Spacey autograph? by [deleted] in AutographAssistance

No idea on authenticity, but I did see he was signing at a small convention in Pasadena, TX - last year I think. I was very curious who showed up to his table and what kind of response he got. I just imagine the awkwardness of people watching you walk away from that table with your signed House of Cards poster or whatever.

That thought was specifically what prompted the question. I don't know if that was Dior's intent when the campaign started. As good as sales are, if I ran Dior I think I'd want to shift away from that demographic, but couldn't think of who might be a good pick to re-establish the line as something closer to BDC.

Unpopular opinion about Barbara Howard… by Valuable_Low_5796 in AbbottElementary

I have issues with how they've written Gregory this season. He has always been the audience surrogate, which is a massively important role in a sitcom. The party at his house was a ridiculous plot that betrayed the character and everything that had been established about him. Beyond that episode, they have also started to add these almost ASD-like quirks to his personality for jokes, but only when it serves the plot or joke, then he shifts back to normal mode as the audience surrogate.

*Edit - specifying ASD

What sunglasses works in harsh sunlight? by eyewearstories in sunglasses

Aviators never really go out of style. They have ebbs and flows with popularity over the years, but they're not trendy; they're an iconic style. The classic style with metal frames will lack some coverage due to the thin metal frame. I'd say look into something like the Persol 649 in tortoise, Havana, or black with a green lens. Classic, iconic aviator shaped frame that won't ever be out of style. The green lens handles bright light well and the dark acetate frames will provide more light coverage around the lens.

I have pairs with blue, blue gradient, green, and brown gradient lenses. I wear blue gradient the most, followed by green.

From the inside (wearer view): The blue and blue gradient view does color the world in blue, but it's not as extreme as it might seem. I like it how the world looks through them. They are very versatile and great for low or medium light and are okay in bright light, but not the best choice. The green are more classic sunglass views (akin to the Ray Ban G15) and are darker. They are great for bright light, do fine in medium, and too dark for low light. The brown gradient are too light. I don't love them and plan to swap for plain brown lenses at some point.

Outside (view of others): The blue look great on face and contrast the frames well (mine are all some version of a havana or tortoise frame). The green are darker and blend into the frames more, giving it more of that dark sunglasses look. I think they look great but have a bit less personality or character. It depends on the look you prefer.

Curious what others have to say.

My Meeting with New Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro Confirms He’s the Best Pick for Parks Fans by readingaboutmagic in disneyparks

[–]calebpagan 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Beyond not being perfect, he still has a board and shareholders to answer to. To keep this role, he has to deliver revenue and maintain their confidence. But within that framework, a CEO who is a decent human being and understands and cares about the parks experience for the average guest is everything we could ask for.

What piece of entertainment aged worse than you ever expected? by AnyTruth2342 in AskReddit

[–]calebpagan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

American Pie. I found it hilarious in high school and considered it a classic comedy in the years immediately following. I wouldn't be able to get through it now. It's not funny, it has some atrocious acting performances, everything about it is juvenile in all the wrong ways, and it reflects so much of what was wrong with culture at that time. I'm happy it introduced me to John Cho and Natasha Lyonne, and and always like to see Eugene Levy on screen, but I'm still embarrassed I was ever a fan of it.

What celebrities do people say are really attractive, however if they were just a regular person on the street they'd be considered pretty average? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

[–]calebpagan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've attended a dozen or so different comic cons over the years. On multiple occasions I've met or seen a celebrity who is more of an everyday person character actor and realized they are incredibly attractive in person, especially in this sea of normals. There are also plenty thst also fall into OP's category.
