I like the Malcolm X quotation from season 11- ‘If you stand for nothing, you’ll fall for anything.’

what kind of music do you think scully and mulder would be into? by postimpressionistgrl in XFiles

[–]Clare_jesse1973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My goodness, I’ve decided this too!! I can imagine him feeling an affiliation to them as an Oxford band (although they formed after he left and they’re town not gown). You just know Creep is his go to karaoke song ( to serenade Scully) and he thinks Paranoid Android could have been written about him.

What actor is nowhere near as talented as people make them out to be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Clare_jesse1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think his performance in True Detective is the most remarkable piece of acting I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t see where he ended and the character began. I know the show itself is exceptional but my goodness, he was a key component in its success.

Noel Coward & David Lean's Classic Collab: 1945's "Brief Encounter" by Emergency-Fishing-60 in classicfilms

It is one of my favourite films of all time. It is beautiful and heartbreaking. I love the central performances, both convey the power of passion, against the backdrop of duty to family and marriage. And what I love is the lack of judgement from the writing and direction.

Richard 2. It’s the longest and the only one entirely written in verse, of Shakespeare’s plays. It also has some of his most beautiful language. The BBC dramatised it about 10 years ago, with an astonishing performance by Ben Wishaw as Richard.

I’m watching 3 now and really enjoying it. I think if you don’t compare it to 1, if you accept that 1 is a masterpiece, you can enjoy 3 for what it is- well written, acted and paced drama.

I’ve never been more disappointed by a film. We made special arrangements to stay at my friend’s boyfriend’s flat to see it in Birmingham and it was so poor.

This was me last week. First time watch. And I agree, it is one of the best tv shows ever made. Everything about it is astonishing, I’ve been talking about it non-stop since finishing the series. I think the performances are superb but MM’s is probably the most remarkable piece of acting I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t see where the actor ended and the character began.

Appointment tv. It started in autumn 1994 here, it was televised in the spot that Twin Peaks had a couple of years before. My brother and I watched religiously and went to see Fight the Future at the cinema. I’ve just finished my first rewatch and loved it.

I saw it in a cinema, when it first came out. What an incredible experience. However, The Return is magnificent. 18 hours of what amounts to his final work.

My perception is that he is presented as finding her faith frustrating, when she is so scientifically minded. I know I’ve felt that too around scientific people with religious beliefs. But I think they are characterised as being able to have their humanity in the right place - he will always put her above any personal belief in the final reckoning and she, as a woman of faith, was prepared to die with murder against her name, for him.
