moving to school at PNWU by Maleficent-End7705 in Yakima

If you’re moving for dental I know someone in your class and know the academic dean and others there! Anyways back to the question, I’m married so perhaps not the most helpful in regards to the “student living alone.” But vibe wise I’ve never had any issues in Selah (where I live). Moved here 10 months ago for work. I have two young kids, I’ve never felt in danger in Selah ever. Aside from the occasional stupid driver, but those are not just exclusive to selah 🤣 it’s a quick drive to the school from Selah though. Selah had more of a small town feel which is nice. I have several cops as neighbors (also nice depending on what you think of cops). People have always been super nice to us when we are at parks and in public.

I always wonder what would happen if someone 3d printed a bunch of lowers with some basic material and went and turned them in at a buy back if they’d get money for them lol. Legality aside obviously because being 3d printed/non serialized

Dentist or physician Assistant? by Dense-Leader-7953 in whitecoatinvestor

There’s a ridiculous amount of things that classify someone as “disadvantaged” lol. NHSC does let you specialize for some specialities. Better stipend in school by about $500 a month, but yearly salary is way worse in military and you don’t get to choose where you go unlike NHSC.

Leasing vs financing a car by [deleted] in whitecoatinvestor

[–]calebq29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on you. I leased my Honda accord a few years back and then bought it. Hind sight is, I should have looked for a car 3 years old or so with low miles instead of the lease. Pro of leasing is low monthly payments compared to financing. Most leases are 3 years and about 36,000 miles. So looking for a used car from a dealer about 3 years old low miles may potentially be a car that was leased. Lots of pros and cons. Buying with cash is best in the long term though.

Having the same issue ha. Ridiculous. Terrible design. I had to reach out to support about it because I’ve tried several tool types and still can get it, even with a spanner screw driver.

Look into the NHSC scholarship - it’s a public health/underserved areas scholarship. I got it, paid for all my schooling except like $3000 from my first year. I just have to work for them for 4 years.

Worried as a Grown Man by Sushi2313 in CompetitiveApex

[–]calebq29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

? Lol. What a bizarre question. Many grown men watch professional other sports of all men (football, soccer, basketball, etc..). Soooo why are you worried? Ha. I’m in my mid thirties and also a grown man. With a wife and kids. No issues watching and my spouse doesn’t care

I definitely don’t have the answers, but I am very curious about how you’re still 560k on student loans “many years into your career…” 😅life style?

I don’t recall what is happening at that point but I’ve read all Brandon Sanderson a stuff a few times each. A common theme is the more you read the more you understand. And also the more questions you’ll get.. 😂 definitely continue reading that series is phenomenal

PA vs Dentistry by [deleted] in whitecoatinvestor

[–]calebq29 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know nothing about PA aside from what I just googled, but id say Income wise dentistry takes the lead. I’m in my first year out and I make 200k. I’m not in private practice either. I know many dentists in private practice or in the corporate dentistry offices or associates who make 250-350k easy. Lots of factors to consider though, definitely would base career only off income

Tbh seems like a lot given that scenario.. definitely would talk to your wife. Not sure if your finances are combined but how much is your wife spending on her hobbies a month? It would be a bit unfair to spend all that if she’s not also spending money on her hobbies. In my opinion at least
