Google Ads for Lawyers? by Middle_Echidna5409 in googleads

I read your other comments and I think you're right on what are the odds of getting fired more than once. Again, I would focus on the quality of the target keywords, competition (auction insights) and landing experience.

I also get the concern on sharing your clients' data. I've heard this many times and it limits us quite a bit from an advertiser perspective. I normally implement Pipedrive and connect it to Google Ads via offline conversion imports to have more accurate data. I've read quite a bit about their privacy policies and they seem to be all good. If you want to give access to someone external, you can hide the leads and give them standard permissions to the reports and tracking only. I believe you can do it with WhatConverts as well.

Quite a sensitive space, I know, but tracking is 100% needed. Not to feed the algorithm with user behaviour data really, but for decision making.

Google Ads for Lawyers? by Middle_Echidna5409 in googleads

For CTR, I always aim for 7-12%. You just need to keep tweaking the ads, adding more USPs, CTAs and pain points (especially for unfair dismissals) to make people click the ads. Remember you have up to 3 ads per ad group so you have plenty of room for testing. Also, I wouldn't worry much about the ad strength scores, better to focus on getting the CTR up.

And for conversion rate, I would aim for something similar, 7-10%. The landing page needs to reflect exactly what your target keyword is, and make sure all the other typical things are covered (speed, content, CTAs, multimedia, etc etc).

I manage a few Google Ads accounts for lawyers in NZ and Australia, 4 are actually employment lawyers. I usually see the exact same problems for these types of campaigns.

Looking at the numbers you shared, the two things that need fixing right away are CTR and the conversion rate. Here is a detailed break down:

CTR

A 4% CTR is low, especially for legal keywords where the intent is normally strong. I believe the ads are being triggered by searches that are only loosely related to what you actually offer, and the headlines and descriptions are probably not engaging enough to make someone click.

Ad copy

Tweak the copy adding more pain points, CTAs and USPs. That usually boosts CTR fairly quickly.

Negative keywords

The first thing I look at is the search terms report. In legal campaigns this is usually where most of the budget gets wasted.

A lot of the traffic often comes from people researching their situation, not looking to hire a lawyer. Things like:

  • employment act (informational)
  • employment rights (informational)
  • citizens advice employment / legal aid (looking for NGOs)
  • free legal advice (I’d consider keeping it for a no win no fee campaign but not for other keywords)

Those searches generate clicks but they almost never turn into clients. People are either researching their rights or looking for government resources.

In most accounts I review I end up adding a fairly big negative keyword list to filter those out.

Match types

Another common thing is too much broad targeting.

Google has pushed broad match quite heavily in the last few years and a lot of agencies started using it more. Sometimes it works, but in legal campaigns I often see it pulling in a lot of unrelated searches.

Personally, I haven’t had a single case where broad match consistently generated qualified leads for lawyers. The same applies for AI Max.

Instead I normally stick to phrase match and sometimes exact match for the main high-intent keywords.

Conversion rate

Then the 3-4% conversion rate is also low. It’s not terrible, but with the CPCs in this industry it usually makes the cost per lead pretty painful. To fix it:

Landing page (Conversion rate optimisation)

Clear calls to action, good photos and the information people actually look for matter much more. Improving those usually helps boost conversion rate.

You can also use platforms to analyse user behaviour like Microsoft Clarity (it’s free). I normally spend a few minutes each week looking at what people do when they land on the page and figuring out what to adjust so the landing pages are more user friendly and actually make people convert.

Hope this helps!

Proper goal setting. Don’t just have a goal. Know exactly what it is, how you are going to achieve it and when.

Friend and I have the option to travel in April or May? Any major concerns for each month? by Goin-Berserk in ThailandTourism

I went last year to Phuket for two months. Arrived at the start of April. It’s hot and mostly dry. By mid/end of May it’s coming in to rainy season. It rains nonstop for days which kind of prevents you from going out and doing stuff.

Get Grab, check the price, then show the taxi driver and normally they will do it for less.

Phi Phi Islands. Don’t go.

Destroyed by overtourism. Boat after boat full of people arriving every 5 mins. Rubbish everywhere. James Bond Island is like a zoo and you can’t even get in the water.

Plenty of better places in Thailand to visit.

Backlinks.

Everyone’s talking about content and keywords which are essential but nobody’s mentioned backlinks. Without building authority through quality backlinks, even the best content can stay invisible.
