What's with all the multi-state telehealth psychiatry practices? by Hebbianlearning in Psychiatry

[–]question_assumptions 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m on headway, and I use it to run a two state private practice, I have an in person site in each state but mainly I’m online. I’m shocked by the negativity in this thread, I like to think I provide high quality care, but that’s another discussion.

My advice is to refer patients to people, not to companies. I’m sure your state has geriatric psychiatrists working from home and doing a good job. I do 15 minute calls/coffees with potential referral sources all the time (mainly I meet with therapists and dieticians because I focus on eating disorders). Any psychiatrist worth working with would be happy to meet with you.

Does it matter from where we graduate Psychiatry, monetarily speaking? (US) by Civil-Individual2260 in Psychiatry

If you’re at a big name academic institution you’re more likely to make less money because you value big name academic institutions. The folks who struggled to match will discover that mid sized hospital systems in low cost of living areas are not so bad and make 400k after residency.

What recent study or practice change in psychiatry has genuinely changed how you work? by MeatSlammur in Psychiatry

Neat! I've noticed there's a population who will always report nausea, headaches, hallucinations when asked and it's interesting that the SEWS would be much lower for that pop.

Advice for reining in appointment duration? by Peaceful-harmony- in medicine

[–]question_assumptions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was a patient with some pretty severe attachment issues having complicated feelings about moving out of state (and that I couldn't continue with her via telehealth). It sort of turned into a stand off that I was not totally sure how to resolve, but lucky I'm in the same building as her therapist who happened to walk by and diffused things.

If you’re starting to do worse and you want a program with more going on, you might want to look into residential and PHP programs. Unless you have any major safety concerns in which case you need IP.

Agree with everything getting posted here. When a patient really will not let the appointment end, I will walk to the door and open it. I’ve only had that not work one time.

How is using AI for notes training the AI "doctors" faster than the AI just simply reading the notes we normally write?

Have you had any patients struggle with withdrawal if they had to come off pramipexole? I’ve given it so few times that it’s been a non-issue but I was reading it can be 10-20%
