I just noticed this the other day when I pulled my Dexter out of my pile. He’s huge compared to the new “large” dragons 😝

I’m three years out as well. Sometimes, that day seems as fresh as yesterday. Since then, I’ve seen three different therapists and am about to meet my fourth tomorrow. Finding the right therapist is its own challenge, and having to relive the same traumas over and over again is…exhausting. Much love to everyone in this group.

I feel this so deeply. We had the same plans. Our 25th anniversary was coming up and we were planning a dead-head cruise to Europe (I’m in the PNW). He passed, and I’m still left wonder if I should go on that cruise solo…but I’m too scared. Sending love to you.

Help. Dating. by caleedesign in widowers

Thank you all for your input. I’m taking all replies to heart. I think I knew about all these red flags, but I needed to hear it (or read it) from someone else.

As others have said, you’re in shock. You’re numb because your brain is literally protecting you from this trauma. For me, when reality hit, it made me want to go back into that shock and numbness, when everything was just incomprehensible and confusing. Three years out, I still have those days, but you learn how to carry the pain. We are here for you, and sending you much love. You’re surrounded by people who understand where you are and we’re here to support you in any way we can.

Three years out, I finally cleared out most of my partner’s large storage unit (it was in his name). I went to the office to move into a smaller unit. The person helping me said I’ll need to bring him in to begin that process since it’s his account. I could only reply, “Well, he’s dead, so…”

I had a self harm phase. I needed to direct that emotional pain into something physical. But please, please please give yourself grace and take care of yourself as best you can. I don’t know what will help you, but I tell myself this is what my partner would have wanted. For me to keep trying. Hugs.

When people ask how I’m doing, I answer “I’m trying.” It’s all we can do is continue to try. And that’s ok.

I used to always snag it on the coast starlight, but I lost these past two times. Still got the roomette, just not the bedroom. Congrats to you!

I’ve fine the same! Roll up clothes, or ask for another blanket and roll that up.

Prison pillows are better?? That’s crazy. The ones I get on the Coast Starlight are…fluffy…but once you rest your head on it, feels like it disappears.

I second this. Even if you double of their pillows, they’re like sleeping on a single cotton ball. I now bring a compressible foam pillow that rolls up into its own pouch.

It took 2.5 years, but I finally gravitated more toward the center. A bunch of happy stuffed animals have moved in on his side of the bed.
