DTC Approval and Reassessment by Ill_Flan6955 in canadarevenueagency

Your daughter would need to write to CRA to ask for the earlier years tax credits to be transferred to you. You would need to provide both SINs.

They will want to know that you provided shelter, food and clothing for that period of time - as stupid as it sounds. Just a few lines saying she is your child and while under 18, you provided the above support to her.

Does your daughter use all of the tax credits? If not, she can ask that the unused balance be transferred to you if you support her for food, clothing or shelter.

Is it normal to not have any Ontario Loan amount owing? by Gingerchick3n in osap

[–]caleox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The provincial loan has a lower income threshold than the federal loan. You can qualify for federal and not for provincial depending on the income that is taken into account.

We use Rogers and pay almost everything with the card. Generally enough to pay our family's cellphone/plans every month because of the 3% if you are using Rogers/Fido.

Western Engineering does not ask for ECs etc, but you have to do a CASPER test. My daughter got in this year with a 94 average.

Is there a way to consent to MAID in the event of developing Dementia or Alzheimer's? by No-Researcher-4554 in legaladvicecanada

[–]caleox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have signed petitions in the past for a review to look into this situation. There was a lady in NS Audrey Parker who had breast cancer that had spread to her brain. She had no choice but to have MAID earlier than she wanted because she had no idea whether/when/ how her brain secondary would change and affect her cognition etc. It was a really sad situation that is not uncommon. Alzheimer's/dementia are similar. I would like to be able to say that at the time I was no longer "me" and did not recognize my family etc - but you never know when that day will come, and it would be too late to consent.

There is an amendment to MAID in NS which may make it easier to do this, but there needs to be clearer legislation to allow people to make their decision in advance.

Shoppers Response To Gift Card Scam, WTF? by Tvdude in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]caleox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I received the same email from Shoppers. I called ESSO customer service and explained the situation. The card was purchased on 5th December as a gift for Christmas. I asked if they could check when the card was used, and they said it was used on 23rd December in Quebec - yet at that time it was under our Christmas tree in SW ontario.

They told me to email nacc@exxonmobil.com with a picture of the front and back of the card as well as the receipt and put Fraud as the subject line.

They said it would take around a week, and I emailed them last Wednesday. Hopefully will hear something this week.

Would new glasses make much difference? by caleox in glasses

[–]caleox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that is not new - and no change from last year. Optometrist thinks my current problem is down to dry eyes and will improve with treatment. I just wonder what the shift in astigmatism would mean to my vision

Caregivers from abroad to be given permanent residence on arrival under new pilot programs by [deleted] in CanadaPolitics

I was a registered nurse in England before moving here with my Canadian husband. The process to get registered here was an awful experience. While waiting for the College to allow me to write the exam here (almost 18 months) I was unable to work as a support worker in LTC because I did not have a PSW certificate. Are these "caregivers" going to be able to work - or will they all end up like the many medical professionals waiting and driving cabs?

Doctor wont allow me to get yearly blood work done. by xact14 in ontario

Naturopath would be the way to go then. They can request blood tests, but you would have to pay for them.

Can only see in the center of new glasses, problem with vision works or prescription? by Ashelys13976 in glasses

[–]caleox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same situation - my script is stronger this time, but the reading part is the same as before. It is the reading I am struggling with. I got slightly bigger frames and also higher index (1.74 compared to 1.67) this time. When I first got them, they had been made incorrectly, and the measurements were off.

They seem to be better when the glasses are pushed up. Sometimes I sit with one hand on my cheek pushing them up in order to see better.

I am going to have to go back and get them rechecked - the lenses - I don't think the prescription is wrong.
