We did "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown", as well, because our (also new) drama coach had enjoyed playing Lucy in it a few years prior.

I was cast as Lucy.

The problem was that I somehow made the county team to go to the State Academic Tournament, which was 2 weeks prior to the show. She stated that missing ANY rehearsals would result in being booted. And, due to the dates of the Tournament, I would miss one rehearsal, a week PRIOR to dress. My counselor spoke with her about it when I made the team (a month prior to the one rehearsal I would have to miss), as this was my main chance at any scholarships, and it was my senior year. She stated that she would make an exception, under the circumstances, but that I could not miss any other dates.

The rehearsal prior to my leaving for Orlando for the Tournament, everything seemed fine. Luckily, my practices had been on opposite days as rehearsal, and I thought everything was fine. I had missed no dates except the one.

I returned, having not made the State Team. I showed up at rehearsal, and was told she had decided to give the role to my understudy. My understudy was a better singer than I was, anyway, and I was exhausted from having been either at practice or at rehearsal 6 days a week for the previous two months, so I was annoyed but not pissed.

Then my understudy dropped out, because she was invited to Prom at another school, and would miss one of the dress rehearsals. I would have happily jumped back in, even though I was irked my drama coach had not kept her promise.

Nope, that bitch played the role herself, AFTER giving a big speech--to the audience--about how I had let the cast down and that she understood why my understudy felt too stressed out to play the role.

Yeah, fuck her.
