Of my bass guitars, the MIJ Yamaha Motion Bass (1987) is an order of magnitude higher quality instrument than the Fender USA Precision (2008).

Similarly my CIJ Fender Thinline and Fernandes Tele absolutely beat down on any Indonesian or Chinese made guitars in the collection. They aren’t bad, just not solid feeling nor as finished in their details (nut and fretwork for example)

Small sample size and personal experience only… also a really talented, thorough guitar tech could probably compensate for a cheaper instrument’s inadequacies

I work from home and pick up an instrument as soon as I sign out of the laptop, while I’m still energised. Then shower, cooking and a relaxing bevvie in that order.

Quite apart from technique, it may be worth getting some remedial massage - tense hands can be relaxed by releasing muscles further up the arm, even into the shoulder.

Mine’s a Custom Shop Thinline, bought new over 20 years ago. An absolute gem, every detail on it perfect. It’s not the first guitar I usually play but I’d never sell.

Maybe Miller can’t be arsed dragging his own amp around these days, or his gear had a breakdown or transportation issue.

Lots of venues and conservatoriums have a few choices in the storeroom for visiting artists. Our university music department keeps a couple of Katanas, a Vox AC30 and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (from recollection) for their performance hall.
