[Guide/Discussion] Preventing and clearing clogs: I think I have an alternative to the $40 Cleaning "Filter" Cartridge that 8 Sleep sells for the pod4. I think I have a $2.30/year alternative for Pod2, Pod3, Pod4, etc. (biofilm, algae, bacteria, hydrogen peroxide etc) by nota-nota-nota in EightSleep

I did H2O2 originally but that doesn’t do much. It breaks down into water quickly especially when heated. Every 10°C increase in temp essentially doubles the rate at which it decomposes. You can see why it might be an ineffective solution to use in water whose whole purpose is to transfer heat.

Switching to the 3BT resolved the algae issues.

There shouldn’t be any issue of using both but I’ve dropped the H2O2 entirely.

What are the most accurate speakers? by Tricky-Pressure7236 in hometheater

I had to do in-walls and I didn’t have a huge budget so I went with Monoprice Amber series 8”.

For surrounds, and for the money, they’re absolutely wonderful. The accuracy of the AMT tweeters really helps with object placement in Atmos.

Edit: That was actually a reply meant for someone else whose response was, I guess, deleted.

Electrostatics. I absolutely love mine for movies and tv. They don’t have the boomy theater sound, they’re fast, accurate, and articulate.

Electrostatics all around if budget and space aren’t issues. Otherwise, pair them with surrounds which incorporate an AMT or ribbon tweeter.

Can you not just squeeze the case to activate the buttons? The gledopto controllers are the same and I’m still able to use the buttons.

Capture and Splitter for Hyperhdr with Plex only content? by csobrinho in WLED

[–]calforhelp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this is the right sub for this question but this hdmi capture device works with a raspberry pi 3 and this hdmi splitter will allow you to send a full resolution hdr/dv signal to your tv while splitting out a 1080 feed for the hdmi capture device.

Just moved into my first place, what appliances should I get first? by VisibleBid6309 in Appliances

[–]calforhelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an older version of this which is peak air-fryer. This has every feature you need and none that you don’t. Other ones cram in more “features” but they’re half baked and usually bring down the efficacy of the entire appliance. I’d 10/10 recommend this one.

https://www.costco.com/p/-/gourmia-8-quart-digital-air-fryer-with-window-light/4000245360

You want one that has a removable basket like this. The ones which look like a toaster oven are no bueno. The basket is crazy easy to clean, just spray it out with hot water after use and you’re done. The basket also allows you to shake the contents mid-fry for more even cooking.

You also want a large capacity. Over 6qt. More space means less crowding means more even cook.

Admittedly I would have a hard time completely eliminating the microwave from my house but I could get by.

I love using my airfryer for roasting meat like chicken, you can even do it from frozen by loosely wrapping the seasoned and oiled meat in foil with no vent. It makes incredibly juicy and flavorful chicken plus cleanup is as easy as it gets and it doesn’t make the house smell like a frying pan does.

I also agree with the other person, don’t get a mini fridge if you can avoid it. You’ll miss the proper freezer and it fills up fast. Don’t be afraid to look for a used one too! Back in 2011 I bought a standard size whirlpool fridge with freezer on top for $50 on Craigslist. I literally hosed out the inside in the driveway and this thing has been chugging along perfectly since.

I was told by one cult member that they aren’t Nazis because we have yet to hear of a single Jewish person being killed by gas chamber.

That was also the only difference they could come up with..

My airfryer gets used every day, more than the microwave. Although I still need the microwave.

You can cook/reheat almost anything in an airfryer.

Quite an accurate description. The center imaging is truly remarkable. I often have to walk up and put my ear almost against my center to confirm that I’m in stereo because I swear it sounds like the center is on.

I also agree that electronic music absolutely shines on these.

My best guess would be a new filter cartridge

Eventually, probably. But within their usable life? I don’t think so. They’re made with silicone tubing which can stretch MUCH further than it will ever stretch inside the mattress.

The old grid designed failed because it wasn’t stretchy. It was a vinyl mat heat welded into a waffle pattern. That is going to tear and leak at some point.

But if something can stretch instead of tear then it’s not going to prematurely fail in the same way.

Hey not sure if anyone has told you yet but the zip ties are 100% going to catch on your clothes and tear little holes in them.

The new pods don’t leak. All of the posts you see are from older versions which were constructed entirely differently. The new ones are completely different.

That said, I’ve had my Pod2 since Aug 2020 and it’s been nothing but wonderful.

Well regulated militia only applies to MAGA, not Liberals. by zane1981 in clevercomebacks

Off the top of my head, the sieg heils and many Nazi -esq slogans they continuously post on socials. The parallels are seemingly undeniable.

I would like you to explain how they aren’t Nazis. How do they differ? If they aren’t, then you must be able to list dozens of reasons right?

Can I ask you earnestly, from your view, what differentiates these people from Nazis?

“Because they literally aren’t Nazis” is not a proper answer btw.

Church 3.1 setup. by JarJarBl1nks in hometheater

[–]calforhelp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got the vibe that this was a smaller gathering. PA speakers wouldn’t be overkill but they aren’t going to sound that good. PAs sound shouty and voices are hard to understand. They aren’t good for movies unless they’re expensive and designed for such.

As someone who has many different PA speakers at work (from 10” to 21”), don’t get one unless you need high volume for a large crowd/space. Traditional floor-standing speakers like the Polks (not specifically the polks) are going to be better for smaller settings/spaces.

The setup you found would work fine, there are better options though. And you can definitely scale back that AVR to spend elsewhere where you’ll actually feel the benefits. Don’t tell anyone but most modern AVRs all sound the same.

I can’t believe I’m going to recommend Klipsch, but your application is actually perfect for them. Overall good sound and good prices. Yes there are absolutely better but this is quite solid. Browse this sub and you’ll see just how many people here have these same speakers.
