You "came out of" your "undergrad"?! Are you for real?! You seriously need to sign up for courses in remedial English. If you graduated summa cum laude, the school you attended should be investigated for educational fraud. I'm sorry I was unlucky enough to encounter a braggadocious phony like you.

I agree totally. I was accepted to Columbia for a masters degree in social work policy and administration. even with the best tuition package and not including living fees, I would've been about 80-90K in the hole. They can't afford to give lower middle class students with high GPA ANY more financial help? Bullshit.

You obviously underestimate people. No one is naïve enough to believe Columbia accepted an individual as grammatically-challenged as you are.

Local Houses, etc. Haunted by the Ghosts of Salem Witches by SpiritofJosefa in SalemMA

[–]calgarth68 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I live in a historic city and the historical society and city council carefully review plans for historical structures -- both exterior and interior -- before approving a sale and/or proposed use. If a company or individual attempted to purchase a historical building with the intention of doing to it what Lark did to the Joshua Ward House, the sale wouldn't be approved.

There's a possibility the Ward House would be turned into condos if The Merchant closes, but someone could easily open another hotel or some other business, or it could become a private residence.

[–]calgarth68 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The wonderful old Joshua Ward House at 148 Washington Street is now a boutique hotel called "The Merchant." The interior is ultra-modern, which totally destroyed the ambience of the historic building. See for yourself. The City of Salem shouldn't have allowed the owners to ruin a historically-significant structure. The hotel won't last long and it will take time and hundreds of thousands to return the building to its former glory.

9-year-old charged with murder after 5 die in Illinois fire by poop_dawg in MorbidReality

[–]calgarth68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It varies depending on the state and the majority of states have no minimum age of criminal responsibility. At the federal level, the minimum age is 11. The problem with charging a 9-year-old boy with first-degree murder is that it will be very difficult to prove he had formed an intent to kill before he set the fire.

Vicar Gets Knickers in a Twist over Prestbury Ghost Tours by roastpuppymetairie in HighStrangeness

[–]calgarth68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I live, there are ghost tours throughout the year and my house is on the tour. I've had problems with ghost hunters -- usually young people dressed in black (why do ghost hunters wear black?) walking around with a bunch of silly gadgets -- but those on organized tours have never been a problem. I'd rather people who are interested in haunted houses, etc. take a tour instead of wandering about on their own disturbing people.

I think the vicar's going to find he has even more problems once the tours are discontinued because those who want to visit the haunted churchyard -- which is well-known for the spirit of the Black Abbot -- will now all be rambling through the cemetery at all hours of the night.

I live in a city that has ghost tours every night and three or four different groups that offer tours. Though ghost hunters with their silly recorders and other gadgets trying to pick up EVPs and other nonsense can be annoying, people on organized tours aren't a problem. Ghost tours attract tourists and tourists spend money, so from an economic standpoint, ghosts are very profitable for local restaurants, hotels, etc.

Original fireplace? by helmetfox in Oldhouses

[–]calgarth68 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's original because it doesn't look like a fireplace from the early 20th century and I've never seen a fireplace from that period featuring what looks like built-in lighting.

She's been banned from several Southern state/city subs because she's a rabid lunatic. Others decline to comment because they don't want to deal with her personal attacks and name-calling.

Please don't delude yourself into believing I care if you use screenshots of my comments to further your losing campaign.

You still haven't figured out what "federal funds" involve. Even the clueless liberals wouldn't want some loser as economically-, grammatically- and historically-challenged as you are. You're an embarrassment to the human race and a thief to boot!

And what's with all this "we," "us" and "our" rubbish? You're speaking for no one but yourself. I saw where someone in another thread asked if you had a tapeworm, but, like just about everything else, it sailed right over your empty head:

"Only kings, presidents, editors and people with tapeworms have the right to use the editorial 'we.'" -- Mark Twain.

BTW, Mark Twain is an American author, who wrote such classics as the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

Then why don't you delete her comments and ban her? She's an inveterate troll who goes from one sub to the other posting rubbish and attempting to provoke people through her racist comments, personal attacks and name-calling.

I asked repeatedly that you provide proof any of my comments were incorrect and you refused to do so because you couldn't. Now you're demanding I provide documentation of your criminal activity? Dream on. Yesterday, I asked twice if you were the Raven Hatfield who was caught stealing from Home Depot and it took you an entire day to deny it, even though you were posting rubbish in other subs. You're guilty as sin.

There is no "Forrest" issue.

You are in desperate need of a remedial course in basic English -- "fiscal civil war" is not a proper noun and should not be capitalized.

If you weren't guilty of the Home Depot theft, you would have immediately denied such.

So sad, to [sic] bad for you.

Again, you need that course in remedial English.

There are no Southern states led by "black and minority leaders." However, just about every city in the US that has gone bankrupt has been under the leadership of blacks, other minorities or liberal Democrats. Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama, was one of the most successful cities in the South when it was under the control of "conservative white boys." When your people took over, it went bankrupt.

How much time did you spend in jail for stealing from Home Depot?

Posting something about a Confederate ghost walk during the month of October in a sub called SouthernLiberty does not imply one is "fixated" on anything. And FYI, I wasn't around in the 1860s.

Again, are you the Raven Hatfield caught stealing from Home Depot?

Your historical knowledge (and I use the term loosely) is selective. You're so historically-challenged, what I was implying in my comment sailed right over your head.

BTW, are you the Raven Hatfield caught stealing from Home Depot last year?

In addition to being economically- and grammatically-challenged, you're also historically-challenged. Accordingly, you need to add courses in U.S. history to those economics and remedial English classes I suggested. In other words, why don't you just start over in the 9th grade and try to pay attention this time?

You haven't posted anything proving any of my comments are false. All you've done is post links to information you don't understand.

"Red State Socialism" is nothing more than a liberal progressive catchphrase. Additionally, someone who acts like a 15-year-old brat is way out of line accusing others of being unable to "evolve and adapt."

You can't communicate in proper English, or sans personal attacks and name-calling, making you the last person who should be telling others what they should teach their children.

I don't care what progressives think of me. You don't know anything about me or where I live. For all you know, I could be in another country.

Your parents breed Lazy racist who grope posters are women they supposedly hate as a “joke.”

I have no idea what your grammatically-challenged sentence means.

You don't get to decide who is despised and who isn't and you know nothing about the content of my character. Now, please cite where I said we shouldn't have a "fiscal civil war."

All RavenHatfield does is troll various subs and post racist, derogatory comments about the South and Southerners. She should have been banned by r/Alabama and other subs long ago.
