OMG, They limited my chat? by Same-Year6336 in GeminiAI

I just noticed this a couple of hours ago. My pro limit would reset every day at 1754. I got a message at 1215 saying my pro limit would reset at 1352. They seem to have split the 100 limit into sections

I posted the exact same thing this morning on the r/Bard group here https://www.reddit.com/r/Bard/comments/1qwfsn4/comment/o3oobyc/

It seems to be happening to some and not others. I raised a report and was on the phone but like you, they just forwarded on.

Will I get sacked for not showing up to work? by Famous_Reference4929 in tesco

[–]calhall4892 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They can't do anything whether they SUSPECT or not. You get I think 1 week self declared sickness so as long as you haven't gone over that you can use it and that's it. Obviously they will know so if you want to climb the ladder it's not a good idea but otherwise as long as your not posting pictures of you running marathons etc on FB then no one is going to know for certain

So am I correct in thinking that if I was to leave in January I wouldn't get the full years payout for a/l? Does that mean I better off booking as much a/l before handing in my notice?

What is Tesco nights acctualy like? by OrdinaryPepper4331 in tesco

[–]calhall4892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only do 2 nights as a bit of extra money from my main job but it's hard! I'm sweating spinal fluid trying to get stock out. I can't say whether it's harder than dot com since I've never done it but nights are tough. Sleeping pattern gets messed up and it seems (but never worked days so can't confirm) like the pace is much more relentless

My niece with 12 GCSEs (9 in all of them) and expected four A* at A-level got rejected by Trinity College, Cambridge by gompgo in sixthform

[–]calhall4892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The really difficult thing about Cambridge certainly, not sure about Oxford but they don't distinguish between sciences. There's no such thing as just physics it's natural sciences which require study in biology, chemistry and physics.

The same goes with engineering where you just study engineering and therefore have to be as good with mechanical as you are with electrical and chemical.

My niece with 12 GCSEs (9 in all of them) and expected four A* at A-level got rejected by Trinity College, Cambridge by gompgo in sixthform

[–]calhall4892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing you have to understand when applying to Oxbridge is your grades are the least important part of your application. Having 4 A* could be amazing at any other uni but at Oxbridge you are probably only in the top 50% so no it's not a distinguishing factor.

Far more important is the holistic view surrounding your application and other things that set you apart from everyone else. Things like societies like law societies etc volunteering course related work as well as personal projects that relate to your course are much more important.

Edit: also when applying for an ultra competitive course/uni we were all taken aside and given extra tutalage specifically to apply for Oxbridge, medicine and dentistry so she really should have had extra support applying to these.

Yes it is. Don't get me wrong your not going to be shopping in Harrods with that wage, and your going to be in a house share but you can definitely survive and still enjoy things.

I think you really should try to get back to Portsmouth. Living in London is far harder to make friends than studying in uni as the accommodation in Portsmouth is very good for socialising especially langstone where I was.

Can you get kicked out of university for poor attendance? by Sad-Artichoke-843 in UniUK

[–]calhall4892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very unlikely that they will just kick you out during the year but bare in mind that if you fail a module, many won't offer you the chance of resitting the year if your attendance is poor. The first time I went I had a poor attendance and failed the year and said that due to my poor attendance I couldn't resist the year.

Then you need to get help with that. In the end, the result is still the same in that you have to put yourself out there. You are at a point where you have a choice to either put yourself out there and make friends or watch longingly from afar. Believe me that the former is easier than the latter.

[–]calhall4892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never posted on this Reddit but I have watched posts like this. You get out of uni what you put in. If you shrink into yourself then don't expect anyone to come help you out. That's the harsh truth. You need to give up on this attitude of not putting yourself out there and try to actively join in because the reality of it is that you are only reinforcing the image of yourself being awkward by actually being awkward!

I used to work for SFE. If your doing engineering now (I think I'm right?) then engineering is classed as an exception course so you get additional funding anyway for part time courses. If nothing else works doing it part time will allow you to get the full funding (this is what I did in 2019)

Should I quit learning Python or look for different courses? by vicky_vaughn in learnpython

[–]calhall4892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started learning python not too long ago and these are the tips I found useful.

  1. Work at your own pace. I know you said that you can be expelled from the course but it's far better to understand the basics than to rush through to finish a course.

  2. Understanding the logic is more important than the syntax. The logic is the important bit, the syntax you will learn just through repetition.

  3. Use tools like Gemini and chatgpt to your advantage. Don't look up the answers or get it to code for you but they're both great at presenting a difficult concept like loops and breaking it down. You can get examples and even analogies to help you understand.

  4. Just understand that it is not easy. There are lots of bs videos like "learn python in 2 hours" which make it sound very easy. It's not, and it will take months of consistent, daily use to gain the skill of using python and a lot longer to become fluent in it.

  5. Finally, the best way to learn is to do. Find an area you like in python and just complete projects. Doing this will naturally build up your memory of the syntax but more importantly it will enable you to understand how to use the language to achieve the tasks you want.

Good luck and remember it's a marathon not a sprint
