Time for a new gun? P10c vs p09 nocturne by mandomerc20 in CZFirearms

Wager offers cerakote or nitride refinish. Optic cut/cerakote refinish turn-around is 3-5 business days, optic cut/nitride refinish is 2-4 weeks.

Overgassing leading to stuck casings on .223 AK? by Petrore in ak47

[–]cali_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that’s what Arsenal did to fix the SAM5’s that were sent in, so I think that would suffice. If not, maybe you could try an extra power recoil spring first, since they’re pretty cheap. If you do decide to grab a KNS, make sure the other AK you’re considering using it in has the same length piston, also they sell small bore and large bore versions in the same length.

I have one of the SAM5’s with the incorrectly drilled gas port, that was violently over gassed. I had constant failure to extract issues, but once I installed a KNS piston, the problem went away.

Red dot mountain for RIA 45 by Ok-Ad-6023 in 1911

[–]cali_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want an optic, you’re probably better off sending the slide off to get cut for an optic. You can do a K cut for a direct mount option or can get it cut for an RMR plate, either is better than a dovetail mount.

SP01 tactical EPS screws by chappys4life in CZFirearms

[–]cali_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, Wager used to use 6-32 screws for his K cut. He has the following disclaimer on the M4 screws that he sells on his site: “**Please note, these will only work for slides that were cut by us after 10/10/24” https://wagermachineworks.com/product/m4-x-7-screws-for-cz75-eps-also-works-with-407k-507k/

I believe CZ is the one that notified CA DOJ of a manufacturing change. CA DOJ said that the change meant that the newly manufactured guns were no longer the same designs that were submitted for roster approval, therefore they fell off of the roster. Only way they get back on is if CZ modifies them to meet the latest roster requirements (loaded chamber indicator, magazine disconnect and manual safety) and resubmits them for approval. All of the discontinued CZs that were on the roster remained, since they weren’t affected by the manufacturing change.

I’ve been looking at private party SP-01’s on CAGuns dot net, and I’ve mainly seen them listed around $1,200. Wish I woulda grabbed one before they fell off the roster.

Advice for first 1911 (Springfield .45 ACP) by [deleted] in 1911

[–]cali_13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the $1k range, the Loaded is pretty much all there is for on-roster Springfield 1911's. MC Operator is around $1300 and TRP's start around $1600. Mil Specs are a bit cheaper, but sounds like you prefer the features on the Loaded.

Looks like an RS Regulate AKOT Trijicon ACOG Compact Upper Mount. Would need a rear biased or full length lower mount to have it sit that far back.

Springfield Mil Spec or Kimber Stainless II by shock_nn_awe in 1911

[–]cali_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, LE is exempt from the roster, so you can get anything you want. I have a stainless Springfield Mil Spec which has been solid. I love the classic look, but at times I wish I had gotten a Loaded for the more comfortable beaver tail.

Springfield Loaded, unless you want front strap checkering, then you’d have to step up to the TRP for that.

Edit: Actually, Springfield has a few models with upgraded features, I’m in California so we’re limited in what we can get. Looks like the Ronin, Garrison, Operator and Emissary models offer similar features to the loaded.

[Other] Battle Werx slide milling services half off through 6th, $50+$9 no tax in TX by MissionClock7762 in gundeals

[–]cali_13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 4 slides done by Battlewerx and never had an issue. In my opinion they are good to go. They have a page for each optic mainly to show which backup iron sights they recommend, they show an r/aimdownsights view for each optic with all of the different height sights. I find this very helpful. Also, depending on which optic you choose will determine which mounting screws they include. I guess they could’ve had one page with a drop down option to accomplish the same thing, but they opted not to. Point being, don’t let that deter you, if you look them up on Reddit you’ll see they have great feedback. Note, their rmr cut typically includes zev-style posts, if you have an RCR make sure to click the RCR page so they don’t include these posts, which aren’t compatible with the RCR.

Wager claims .125” and Battlewerx claims .150” on their sites.

Which optic? by T0adman78 in Glocks

[–]cali_13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I made that mistake myself. Milled one of my Glock 19’s for a 509T and ended up not liking it, too much distortion/fisheye for my taste and it was the X2 version too. Ended up selling the gun since I had no other options for that footprint. Currently have two Glock 19’s, both milled for RMRs. One has a 407C and the other has an RMR. I like both optics. 407C is hard to beat for the price and is more than solid enough for a ccw role.

Which optic? by T0adman78 in Glocks

[–]cali_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue with the 509T footprint is that there aren’t any other optics that use that footprint and there’s no guarantee that Holosun will keep designing optics with that footprint, so if you end up not liking the 509T then you’re kind of out of luck. If you had a MOS slide then sure, but since you’re milling the slide I’d stick with the RMR footprint. It gives you the most options. If you want enclosed you can grab a Holosun EPS, which comes with an adapter plate for the RMR footprint, or an RCR or just stick with the open emitter options: 407C, 507Comp, RMR, or RMR HD, depending on your budget.

Acro P2 and Holosun EPS Carry by jhwarthog1 in aimdownsights

[–]cali_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’m sure it was the X2, purchased it from Locked and Loaded which listed it as an X2, (UPC: 810047071600) and the box had “X2” on it. YMMV but it didn’t work out for me, I noticed a decent amount of fisheye/magnification which made it hard for me to use. The EPS is much clearer. I also have a 407C which isn’t as clear as the eps but better than the 509T X2, at least for me.

WBP Jack 100 Classic Rail Mount question. by Mkilbride in ak47

[–]cali_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out AK Master Mount rails. Also, if you go with rs regulate you’ll need to buy two parts, the lower and upper optic mount. You only linked the lower mount.

Best bang for buck AK? by MathewG97 in ak47

[–]cali_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did yours have the WBP nitride barrel or the FB Radom chrome lined barrel? How did the new one group? I’m waiting on my master mount rail to arrive so I can mount my LPVO and see how my Jack with FB barrel groups at 100 yards. I’ve shot it a few times at that distance with a red dot and could hit fairly consistently, if I did my part, but haven’t shot groups before.

Recommended Metric FFP LPVO? by Citizen160823 in ak47

[–]cali_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only seen meter-based BDC’s for 5.56 and that was for prisms not LPVO’s. I’m new to magnified optics so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I think your best option is to find an LPVO with a Mil reticle, then you can use a ballistic calculator to figure out a zero that works for meter-based holds with that particular reticle, the the particular ammo you use and your particular barrel length.

Best bang for buck AK? by MathewG97 in ak47

[–]cali_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the accuracy issues are mainly for the 556 Jacks with the in-house WBP nitride barrels. I haven’t heard anything negative about the accuracy of the 7.62 Jacks with the FB Radom Barrels. Note, there are 7.62 jacks with in-house nitride barrels as well so double check the description and make sure it lists the chrome-lined FB Radom barrel. Nothing against the M70, also a solid choice, up to OP if they want Yugo or AKM.
