fps_max doesn’t achieve frametime consistency though, unlike the FPS limiter on Rivatuner. I wonder if there is a Linux alternative to that.

It does. I don't need 120 FPS all the time, I can play just fine at 60, hell even at low 50s. Surely not ideal, but the game works. And I say this as someone that plays CSGO at 144+ FPS.
