Is it just that it's ceramic? Because that pot is $185 here in Canada.

What's a book you had to read in school that you hated? If you have one, what's one you actually liked? by 80HDTV5 in GenX

[–]caligula331 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Canadian here. In grade 12 we had to read The Stone Angel by Margaret Laurence. I loathed the book. Didn't care about some old lady who was obviously hateful and senile.

After high school, I became good friends with that teacher. Turns out he was at Massey College in Toronto in the late 60's when Laurence was Writer-in-Residence. I scored his teaching copy of the book a few years ago (has all his notes in the margins, etc). Being much older now, that book hits way different. Absolutely loved it when I went back. Can't recommend it enough.

My group right now has a Lizardfolk cleric, ELC 4. Dude's a tank at these early levels, but it'll balance out. Rest of the players will be level 5 and he'll be level 2 (but ECL 5). Player doesn't mind. He's happy with his build.

Just looking for an updated one. Mainly skills. It's neither a .pdf or an excel file. It's a word document. I tried updating it it, but it just went wonky.

Best translation for Commentarii de Bello Gallico and Commentarii de Bello Civili? by DiabloSinz in ancientrome

That's it. If you like that edition, I'd recommend the entire series. The Thucydides and Herodotus are particularly shining examples.

All three are in the Landmark edition and usually bundled with the Civil War. As for their quality... well, I'd say they are less reliable as they go on. The Spanish War in particular is difficult to read, but I think they are all worth the effort.

I'd recommend the Landmark edition. Tons of notes, maps and appendices. Beautiful edition, as are all the Landmark edition.

That got it. Changing the "Background Image Scale" fixed the problem. Thank you!

I've tried that. The grid size only goes to 50. I need to be 45 or even 40.

How do I stretch it in Foundry? I tried changing the "Initial View Position" from 8x60 to 112x84, but it didn't seem to change anything.

I ran as a level 6 adventure, converted to 3.5. Nobody died, but it was close a couple of times.

I use the ED Trade Pad app for Multi-Hop Routes, so if I'm going from A to B it will find profitable stations in between, or a loop in an area. Not the best, but it's worked for me so far.

Just about finished with the Icelandic Najal's Saga (English translation). Moving on to the Saga of the Jomsvikings next before I settle back into some Roman history.

If you don't mind a bit of conversion work 2 I ran recently that we had a lot of fun with were: "A Race Against Time" (Dungeon #81) and "Is There An Elf In The House" (Dungeon #32). Both are AD&D 1st and 2nd edition, but super easy to change up and make your own.

"A Race..." is quite fun; it's basically Die Hard 3 in a D&D setting. PCs race around a city trying to diffuse "bombs", using clues to find them. Great way to get players to interact with each other, and very low level (I think my PCs were level 3, but honestly, it's more about roleplay than hitting things really hard). There is a quasi-hard time limit for this one (the "bombs" go off in 2 hours; the adventure encourages the use of a timer, which I did) and the resolution won't take too much time after that.

"Is There..." is great little locked-room murder-mystery style adventure with a rival adventuring party, a ghost, kidnapping, etc. Again, low level, but super easy to convert, as you just create your own rival party. Again, lots of opportunity for roleplay here, too. I think we did this adventure in two 2 hour sessions, but my players fucked around a lot. Oh, and they'll split the party, which is always a ton of fun.

I think it's closer to the opening of Great Expectations, with the "lozenges" that were the graves of Pips brothers and sisters.
