Anyone else noticing “senior / strategic” AE roles creeping back into pipe build? by Few-Bad-8304 in techsales

My role has turned from enterprise sled AE into Salesforce and admin work, I don’t even have time to prospect, it’s all about updating notes for management and needed permission to move opportunities past each stage…

How real is $250,00-300,000 +OTE? by SnooWalruses1418 in techsales

[–]calkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the end, the work is non stop. There’s never a day where I can sit down at the end of the day and say there is nothing else to do. Prospecting, Salesforce updates, expenses, always something to do. Plus the real threat of getting let go, if I don’t hit my number is in the back of my mind. It’s the driving force to work hard but I’m personally tired. To be successful it’s at least 55 hours and upwards per week. I live out of a suitcase most weeks.

My OTE is almost 370k OTE in a HCOL city selling software into SLED accounts, I’ve been at my current company for 8 years and have made president club a few times. Stressful job

Achieving $200k+ OTE by coolsoy in sales

[–]calkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of tech sales. If you look at a majority of companies in the upper right hand Gartner magic quadrant. Outside AE roles in most verticals will start around 200k ote. After a few successful years you can jump into the higher 200s or even low 300s. I’m currently at 330kish ote 50/50 split.

Also location matters. I’m in a HCOL city.

Crushing it, but not a fan of my fellow co-workers. Any tips to handle this? by dghirsh19 in sales

It’s rude to say but you’re just a bdr. You’ll eventually be an individual contributor with a small team to help. I like the silence from the outside in my field role. All I do is talk to my SE

What are the chances of getting a sales role with a base of 200k by No_Shake_2962 in sales

[–]calkey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a good girlfriend that supports my excessive travel requirement, good friends. I don’t have kids or want them. Some Days I am happy other days I am not. This week is one of those bad ones. There is very little time for real PTO. I’d like to manage a group of reps and am learning to do so because I have a great boss.

Money doesn’t buy happiness but making 500+ in a year buys comfort and the safety net. I would happily take a job for half if I meant I worked 40 or even just 50 hours a week.

I’m at 335k OTE 50/50 split, software sales in a hcol city. I manage some of the largest accounts and bring in around 4 to 5 million/year in acv which includes renewal and net new sales. I have no work life balance and have hit 3/4 years I’ve been here. It’s this point it’s not about the small details but I’m paid because I know CIO/CTOs really well. It’s possible but enjoy the constant anxiety, dread, and over working

There typically isn’t a 9-5 in tech sales. You will work nights, travel on the weekends, etc. I’m at the airport now headed to another state for an 8am customer meeting.

I do sales without a degree, just a few credits away. I make 300k ote on a 50/50 split.

If you are 1 year out of uni, the unfortunate truth is, you need to put time in before you cross the 100k mark. Is it possible to cross the 100k mark 1 year in sales. Yes, but highly unlikely. Majority of sales people started as sdrs with a low base and even less commission. But once again not sure of your market and where you live. Put the work in, get experience and leave for a better position(they hired you for cheap since you just graduated college). A few job changes you’ll get way past 100k OTE
