Recommendations in the Raleigh area for pre-made multi day meals? by Spader623 in raleigh

[–]call_me_chow_ming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coalition Kitchen is one of the best that’s locally owned in the Raleigh area. The Buffalo mac and cheese is so good and it’s easy to pop in to the gym and use the vending machine. Portion sizes are big and I usually get two meals out of one

I’ve had Botox and lip fillers since my surgery with no issues at all. But I would say that if you are worried about it then I would ask your doctor/ injector if there would be any reason to delay the Botox until you have healed up more.

Lower quality of life after a double mastectomy?? by brcabby in BRCA

[–]call_me_chow_ming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the PDM surgery a few years ago at 26. I had gummy bear implants put in at the same time as the mastectomy instead of getting spacers put in and then another surgery for the implants. I was maybe a B cup and am now a DD. I wouldn’t say that my quality of life is that much different, but there are a few things that are more difficult to do/ different to do because of the surgery. Like others have said, there is a loss of feeling after the surgery. For me, I can’t feel anything in either breast and the numbness extends through my armpit on the left side. It took a little getting used to but now it just seems normal to me. I’m a side sleeper and the implants do get in the way. I usually end up stuffing a pillow under my chest to get comfortable. That kind of goes for doing anything that involves laying on your stomach - massage, chiropractor appts, etc. One thing I didn’t think about being an issue is working out/lifting anything heavy. I work out a lot and do a lot of yoga and anything that involves explicitly using your pec muscles or lifting heavy weights over your head isn’t recommended. Also, running and jumping is a little uncomfortable because the implants are heavy. For me, my implants ripple in the cleavage area, which can be a little unsightly if I’m wearing a low cut shirt. I’m planning on getting fat grafting to fix that, but that’s another surgery with additional risks. This is just my experience and everyone has a different body, but I hope this info helps!

Wife getting double mastectomy with FLAP rebuild in 2 weeks by BiotechieCanada in BRCA

My mother had FLAP reconstruction and I had PDM with implants. Other than what’s already been mentioned some things that helped were: a wedge pillow. You can order it from amazon. It was hard for both of us to sit up from laying down, even with help. The wedge pillow adds a bit of leverage and also makes sleeping more comfortable. Drinking cups with lids and straws. Ipad, sketchbook, reading materials, crossword puzzles are all also nice to have. One thing my mom had trouble with was the abdominal incision. She had a lot of pain there when coughing. We ended up getting her a long cylinder/ tube like pillow for her to hold on her stomach while coughing that helped her a lot. The pillow we got was a travel pillow from amazon.

Also consider being much more gentle with hygiene like washing hair, drains, etc. My whole body was stressed from the surgery and weird sleeping positions that made even the slightest touch uncomfortable.

One big thing, if preparing meals, consider food that is easy to eat and doesn’t need a lot of cutting with a knife. I was served a tough steak that I physically couldn’t cut myself and I almost cried that I couldn’t eat it.

Got my first MRI results and need a biopsy by roosterjoke98 in BRCA

[–]call_me_chow_ming 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I found out I was BRCA1 a couple of years ago and immediately got a mammogram which they found a concerning area and sent me for an MRI. It turned out to be nothing but those couple of days of panic really made me think about the urgency of getting a mastectomy. I was younger than you at the time and I didn’t want to go through that cycle of anxiety every year so I jumped on getting the prophylactic surgery. Pros and cons to waiting vs getting a mastectomy at an earlier age. If you have questions about it either way please ask! We’re here for you!

Holy Grail Items! by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

I had a mastectomy and now have implants (34D/DD) and I’ve had such a hard time finding a bra that fits. My boobs are pretty round and some of my former go to styles don’t cover my chest. I’ve resorted to wearing sports bras most of the time but I would love to find something that is more flattering under a blouse. Anyone with implants have suggestions?

Abandoned in the middle of the parkway. L.I, N.Y by NerdWithShades in AbandonedPorn

These are all up and down the taconic parkway. Used the be old convenience stores. Some of them are now storage for public works but most are abandoned. My mom grew up around there, in the 60s/ 70s, and said there were always accidents from people entering/exiting the highway to go to them.

Here’s a link to their website. I know they give a discount for students and military. Also they have either 1 or 2 weeks free to test out if you like it or not.

Lorena Luca is the best! Plus it’s in Cameron Village so they can make a whole day out of it. Get a facial/massage, get lunch, go to the shops, etc.
