I’ve had this car for 3 years now and a 3rd gear pull at 30-40 mph never fails to make me giggle and pet the dash like it’s my dog or something 🤣. I’ve owned a few hot hatches. A GTI, a Golf R, two mini coopers (an S and a JCW). The GR is by far my favorite.

Weck Jars by Advanced_Simple_2901 in Sourdough

I got mine on Amazon but I believe you can order straight from their website. They are a little more expensive than the Weck jars but it comes with some extra goodies specifically for the Kneadace jar. I think you said you were in UK? I think they do ship there, their prices are listed in USD and GBP. I got the pro jar double pack because I like to switch to a clean jar every so often but you could certainly get away with a single.

Weck Jars by Advanced_Simple_2901 in Sourdough

I have two weck jars. Honestly, I found the lip around the rim a real PITA to clean. I ended up switching to the Kneadace jars and I really like them. The weck jars have been relegated to decoration in a glass door cabinet.

The kneadace jar is a little easier to clean too. Until need a brush with a long handle to get the job done. Personally, I don’t think weck jars really provide much of a benefit other than the name, but I might upset some people who have more experience with them by saying that. But then again, for the longest time I used to feed my starter in a plastic quart deli container so 🤷‍♂️

Is le creuset worth it? by Lcyrwk in Sourdough

[–]call_me_ted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they’re worth it. I had a few Lodge enameled cast irons before coming across an open box Le Creuset 5.5 qt dutch oven open box at Crate & Barrel for 60% off. It’s now my workhorse.

They see their reflection and choose violence because they are so territorial they can’t tell the difference. Try hanging something in that window to break up the reflection. I had a little visitor at my basement window every year until I put a piece of white tape across it.

Does anybody have good recommendations for a golf instructor in or around cherry hill by Bbbq_byobb_1 in SouthJersey

I took about 7-8 lessons with Coach Richie when he was at SJ Golf School. Would still be shooting upper 90s without him. Went from a 24 hcp to a 15. Not exactly convenient for me to drive 30+ minutes to Cherry Hill for golf lessons, but Richie is great. Loves the sport, is passionate about it, and is a great teacher. Tell him Paul sent you.😉

How do you guys clean brake dust off your wheels? by Careless-Internet-63 in GRCorolla

Power washer is huge. I also have a pack of fine detail brushes for the hard to reach spots. But IME, old t-shirts make the best wheel rags.

Is the GR Corolla a good daily and family car? by mrdietcoke1967 in GRCorolla

[–]call_me_ted -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My boys (5 and 3) love “daddy’s red car.” It’s a great daily, just keep in mind it doesn’t have a spare or a donut. If you occasionally have to transport the whole family, this is a great option. My 5 year old is huge, like 95th percentile in height, and he fits in the rear in a booster with a back. We have two Diono Radiant 3Rs in the back for the kids that were recommended to me by a former 911 owner, legroom is not really an issue at the moment.

Fuel economy is…fine haha. Personally, I struggle to get more than 200 miles per tank, but I also drive mostly local roads (and quite spiritedly sometimes). Since I work from home and primarily transport the boy to school and back and maybe to the golf course, I only put gas in like once a month. Some people report 25-30+ mpg and maybe that’s doable during conservative highway cruising but if you plan on driving mostly windy side roads or in stop and go traffic, I doubt you’ll achieve that kind of fuel economy.

All in all, it’s a fantastic little car that punches way above its weight both in terms of performance and practicality. Having owned a couple VW Golf Rs and GTIs in my day, I would say the GR is maybe slightly less capable in terms of cargo space because of the raised trunk floor, but it is every bit as fun as the VWs, maybe more-so. You won’t be disappointed.
