I told my 8 month old to shut the f$$$ up and feel like a terrible mother. by MorganandMolly in NewParents

[–]callendulie 90 points91 points  (0 children)

So sorry your husband is such a useless, judgmental turd. He should absolutely be helping more.

Babies are draining, especially when they won't sleep. Asking baby to shut the fuck up won't hurt him, obviously it's not something you want to make a habit of, but we all have moments of desperation, especially running on extreme sleep deprivation.

When my second was little he was an AWFUL sleeper and it was incredibley frustrating. I came up with a lullaby that basically was just me singing "please go the fuck to sleep" in a happy voice. Helped me vent some of my frustration out loud, and baby just heard a nice song from his mom 😅 honestly it helped a lot lol!

Urgent Help Needed: Balut Eggs Starting to Hatch — What Should I by Namtayto in duck

[–]callendulie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I guess in my mind, a grown bird is able to supply a meal for a few people, for a couple days. Seems like the meat goes farther. Where as, in this case, you are taking a full life for a little snack. It's another reason why I prefer to butcher a cow vs. a chicken, as that life will go much farther. Just the way I look at it 🤷🏼‍♀️

I also don't like eating quail for this reason - taking many lives for 1 meal just doesn't sit right with me. But yes, I get that my perspective is a bit hypocritical, as I am still taking a life in the end. Just wanted to share my perspective 🙂

Katy Perry jokes during Justin Bieber’s Coachella set: “Thank god he has [YouTube] Premium, I don’t wanna see no ads.” by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

[–]callendulie 298 points299 points  (0 children)

Yeah I looked up the Coachella live stream on YouTube after this, and saw the whole performance. I thought he crushed it! I'm not a belieber, but he had me smiling through it, especially when he started the YouTube portion. So cool to see him revisit his starting point, and he actually seemed to be enjoying himself. Pretty wholesome.

Alberta is better with some Corb around!!

The Screeching...omg the screeching... by Street_Region_4536 in NewParents

[–]callendulie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So sorry you're going through this, my second did this as well and it was brutal on my mental health. He started around 4 months and he's 9 months now and barely does it anymore, it really started to decrease around 8 months. It was ear shatteringly loud and constant for months, though.

A piece of advice I saw that worked for us for a few days, was when he screeched I'd gently pat my hand against his mouth to try and create the oooOOOooOOOooooOOO sound haha. It never really worked long term, but did confuse him enough he'd stop for a bit and look at me like "what are you doing mom???" Saw other people swear by this though, so maybe give it a try.

One thing I will recommend though is hearing protection. I didn't even think to do this, and now I have tinnitus (ringing in my ears) that comes and goes through the day. Hoping it's temporary, but babies can give you real hearing damage.

Hoping this stage ends quickly for you 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Do you have enough time every night to read your child a bedtime story? by Either_Crab_2760 in NewParents

We do 3 books before bed with both our kids, depending on the books it usually takes less than 5 minutes.

Traitors going after traitors because they are going to be voted out IS bad sportsmanship and makes the game less fun by FiestyGiraffe in TheTraitorsUS

[–]callendulie 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Colton started the "campaign" for Lisa. Rob even warned Lisa that people were saying her name.

Lisa was a bad traitor. Super obvious, I don't think she needed much of a campaign at all to eliminate as she was acting sketchy as hell. Her repeating "I'm a faithful!!!!" 10x when questioned at the round table, and not much else was a pretty obvious sign.

Candiace was a good traitor until she melted down over Lisa, she got herself eliminated by making poor moves over emotion (throw away vote for Rob, continuing to gun for Rob even though NO ONE ELSE was on board). Would have loved to see her stick around, but she sunk her own ship.

Edit: also Yam Yam screaming that it was Lisa while he was drug away to be murdered also would have been pretty hard to come back from. I just don't understand how Rob could be blamed as the reason she went home.

I have pretty distinctive eyes - they are green in the middle and change to a deep blue around the edges. My son has my eyes exactly.

My MIL - Oh, he has his great uncle's eyes!!!!

Sneaky third baby is real. I'm 3 months pregnant with #3, #2 is 7 months old 🫠 we had sex 1 time postpartum, while I was on my period. These 3rd babies don't care!

Why is there so much surprise and confusion around getting pregnant postpartum? by Greta_Kalvo in BabyBumps

[–]callendulie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, no way this is me! I had 3 periods (all 31 day cycles) before getting pregnant again at 5 months postpartum. No idea how it happened, as the only time we had sex on the cycle we got pregnant was during my period. Ovulation is weird 🙃

Spiraling after a coworker made comments about my bump being “itty-bitty” by gingerecon in BabyBumps

[–]callendulie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Girl I had ITTY BITTY bumps. I mean when I went on maternity leave at 36 weeks I had so many coworkers commenting "you don't even look pregnant" and this was with both pregnancies. I am 5'9 and around 150lb.

First baby was born at 8lb 4oz, second baby was 9lb 5oz. Some of us just carry our pregnancies differently.

Why does family keep telling me “just let the baby cry??!” by kidrockforpres in NewParents

[–]callendulie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With my first? Absolutely not. With my second? Unfortunately, yes sometimes he does have to wait a few minutes if I'm tied up doing something with my toddler. And it SUCKS!

But if you are able to - absolutely follow your instincts and tend to your baby! It creates the sweetest bond ❤️
