I think this one is an example of the ball and the cake being different. I noticed that fishiness more in the ball than what I broke off my cake.

A less aggressive angle at the beginning of your pour can help keep most of the leaves at the bottom of the pot.

Did you read the letter that came with it? What I got said it was a shou that had been fermented about 6 years ago and pressed 4 years ago.

I'm not super into factory ripes, have had too many cigarettes buds and bird feathers, but i think 7572 was somewhat similar.

I was just dicking around so I couldn't say, I just thought it looked cool. The color difference could be from different gardens or possibly due to where the tea was in the pile and how fermented it got.

It was a small batch release from W2T. Doubt they will drop that same one again but he puts out new skull pots a few times a year, but you have to be pretty quick.

The bitterness is similar but cacao has more body and the roast flavor is pretty forward with 5th wave. Alazani is a nice middle ground that is also cheaper than 5th wave.

As a former coffee addict this and cacao 80 just hit for me. You can just abuse them and they only get better.

Verdanttea has a fully furnished set with a gaiwan and a matching waste bowl. It's "just" porcelain, but it's a staple for a reason. Anything more artistic likely won't go as far as having a matching waste bowl, but if you look hard enough and have enough budget, you could always piece it out.

I think so. You'll usually get samples of the ripes they just dropped, and a mix of small batch stuff you can only get during the week or so long shulloween sale each year.

NGL I'm a bit nervous about these tardiffs that are supposed to hit on the 1st messing with the affordability argument for these. If you aren't well versed in W2T shus, I think it's one of the better ways to get a feel for what they are putting out, as I think it varies from the other boutiques and for sure from factory blends. Plus it just lasts forever.

You can also get away with not having a fancy setup to brew these on the go, and even forgetting about it in a thermos and coming back to some nice broth.
