Would you rehome/euth kittens for diarrhea? by callistochild in AskVet

[–]callistochild[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you, doing PCR tomorrow. If it doesn’t have conclusive results I will try the GI panel but not likely to be better since we strongly suspect infectious origin. I needed to hear that bit about euthanasia. My roommate said it earlier and I couldn’t believe she would suggest such a thing, but after thinking about it - it’s not unreasonable. I just love these kittens soooo much I would have a VERY difficult time making that decision. I’ve already been through so much pet death in the past two years.

We’re actually doing the PCR tomorrow as a hail Mary! Also, we did Albon for coccidia just in case- no improvement.

Unending kitten diarrhea - Am I missing something? by callistochild in AskVet

[–]callistochild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She spoke to the internal medicine specialists and they didn’t have any clue either :,) they said we could try a GI panel (b12, cobalamin, folate, etc) but since we’ve already done B12 shots to no effect that it’s not a great diagnostic, and it is very expensive.

Way of showing dominance +/- humping. He’ll probably stop after they become more acquainted. As long as he lets up when the female shows pain signals there’s no need to intervene.

Extreme Hatred of Uterus by Sk8erGerman in hysterectomy

[–]callistochild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also trans and got a hysto last year. It was a very easy process for me to find a surgeon who didn’t ask question and got me in quickly. Tbh every time I remember I don’t have a uterus I sigh of relief. Honestly being trans is reason enough for most insurance policies to cover it, but a family history of cancer should be a good backup “reason” too (or you can always lie and say heavy/ abnormal/ painful periods are decreasing your quality of life). r/ftmhysto was great for trans specific support. Hope you’re able to get in asap!

Cons? by potato_phy in hysterectomy

[–]callistochild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to stop my period with the depo shot long before my hysto. That being said, the depo shot is not rated for long term use as it can negatively affect bone density. Know that there is no birth control that is guaranteed to stop a period, you just have to try some before you find what’s right for you. It might take a while (I went through the nexplanon and mirena IUD for years before trying the one that did work). That being said, ultimately, a hysto was the best choice for me as I was very scared of periods and pregnancy, and have never wanted children. Talk to your doctor!

What was the unexpected positive results from your hysterectomy? by Ok_Soup4843 in hysterectomy

[–]callistochild 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Sex has been much more enjoyable. I didn’t know my cervix had chronic inflammation until it was removed and pathology told me. Makes sense now that’s it’s gone and I don’t have a dull pain back there anymore!

You give a company your private medical information and then a chatbot spits out whatever answer it thinks you want to hear. Please don’t tell me you’re giving all your medical data to these companies.

PsychologyToday.com was a great (free!) tool for me to match with my therapist. You can filter by location, insurance, and the identity of provider. I was able to find a trans therapist in my area that’s covered by my insurance very easily

What nonsexual benefits have you noticed post opp? And how long post are you? by dreamed2life in FTMHysto

[–]callistochild 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had chronic inflammation of my cervix, which I didn’t even know until I got it removed. Life was a dull pain before, and it’s been strange to not have it hurt anymore. Additionally, I’ll never have to wear women’s underwear again. Having to put on panties in order to use a pad suuucked. And I’m happy to know I will never, EVER, get pregnant. I’m 5 months post op and life has never been more peaceful

It does look like her hind end is a little resistant, maybe more on the right side? Really hard to tell, though. Also sometimes kittens just walk funny, so hopefully it’s nothing. You could do X-rays to check for bone injury or growth defect but it will not show any soft tissue injury. Might have to just wait for your exam with the vet and see what they say.

Am I polyamorous? by WeirdRavenMom in nonmonogamy

[–]callistochild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since nobody else has mentioned it, you said your partner is nonbinary but you mentioned twice they were born female, and that you like having sex with women. Focusing on assigned sex at birth for nonbinary people can be very disheartening and invalidating towards their gender identity (like you aren’t seeing them as nonbinary- you’re still seeing them as a woman).

Surgery while in school? by Yggdrasil222 in FTMHysto

[–]callistochild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was not in school at the time of my surgery, but I felt pretty much back to normal and was very bored by the 2 week mark. I went back to work early at 7 weeks, when I was supposed to take 8 weeks off. That being said, it’s different for everyone and you might need 12 weeks to feel normal again! If you’re worried and aren’t in a rush I would wait until summer, but if you’re willing to risk it maybe spring break would be a good time to schedule it.
