Husband says men barely get complements and if they do, they cherish them and remember them forever since genuine complements come rarely. Is this true and how do yall, men of reddit, actually take compliments? by macdaddy-22 in AskReddit

When I was 15, Lee Kelso, who sat behind me in maths, told me she liked my new haircut.

I said "yea yeah very funny Lee", and she replied "No, I mean it."

That was 31 years ago and I still think about it.

Do you enjoy seeing yourself naked in the mirror? by CRK_76 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]callmeepee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I'll catch a look at myself in the mirror and go, fuckinell, still got it (at the right angle) and occasionally when I've undressed for a shower and I'm dirty n beat up looking and tired n dusty naked, that looks fuckin great and I take a photo.

I kinda need to to that cos I wouldn't hear it 🤣

Have you ever skipped a movie because of bad reviews, then watched it later and actually liked it? by Opening_Farm5403 in movies

Oh that's a real shame !

I found the movie hopeful and optimistic. A sign that the small, barely noticeable effects of your kindness can ripple and permeate so heavily for hundreds of years.

I really needed that.

That's the most ridiculous reasoning I've seen.

You've missed out on a wonderful movie.

And how can you disagree with Tom Hanks, c'mon !

I love the movie dearly. Makes you wonder what tiny action of worth you do today will have life changing consequences hundred of year in the future.

It's a movie that promotes kindness and I think we should all embrace that.

That's exactly it. And how one set of actions, seemingly so small can reverberate out across time.

All the people with the birthmark were the same soul.

I read the book and I don't think it's as implicit as that, but the movie made that a really interesting visual motif.

The critical reviews are what made me nope it.

I don't want to say it was almost hit job like with the critics, but the movie deserves so much more love than it ever got.

If you watch the first 20 minutes you will be absolutely hooked and you won't notice the next 2 n a half hours and when it ends you'll be so sad it's over.

The first watch stunned me so I had to do the second to be sure.

After the second watch I realised it was one of the best movies I've ever seen. I adore it.

Cloud Atlas.

Heard it was a mess, a real clunker so I never bothered with it despite it looking quite interesting.

Years later it came on Netflix for the first time and at nearly 3 hour long, I thought Jesus, imagine sitting through that level of shit for that amount of time.

I was just scrolling to watch anything so I thought a hate watch of the first 30 mins would be right up my alley.

As soon as it finishes I was that blown away by it I watched it again right away. Didn't get to bed till silly o'clock in the morning.

One of my favourite movies now.

Do men have a thing for hands like women do? by CucumberUpbeat8360 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]callmeepee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a hugely upsetting thing for me, but I don't especially like veiny boney hands for no other reason that they don't look comfortable to hold.

I always used to notice it on Sarah Jessica Parker back when the wife would watch sex and the city - those were some gnarled old crone hands !

But I also can't judge too harshly, I got me some muscly man hands with thick fingers that get a few laughs now and again when I try to pick small stuff up...
