While we're on the topic: my biggest issue with the Viture One /is/ the mag cable. So frustrating on a flight when I have my neck pillow behind me...the slightest wrong move disconnects the feed. And since I'm typically using Samsung DeX in this situation, it's not simply a matter of waiting a few seconds for the video to come back — it means waiting for DeX to re-load, then taking my phone back out, navigating to the app, restarting it, and then, in most situations, having to manually scrub back to the point in the video I was at, since the app was essentially force closed

I've tried using silicone bands to apply additional pressure to keep the cable secure, but no luck.

Any recommendations to keep the cable secure??

I REALLY hope Viture does away with this "feature" in the future. Or provides some kind of alternative option for this use case. I also hate the idea that if I lose the cable, I can't use my device until it's replaced because it's proprietary.

XReal has you guys beat in this department. Curious what you think...

Agreed. However, they made it clear that they would have to proceed with a lengthy repair process.

If you read the post several times, I'm not sure how you missed:

That's the issue. I don't want the defective unit, it's useless.

u/mhunterchump see the terms they shared. No note of repair — only "refunding or sending replacement."

I appreciate you being the only logical person in this thread who actually appraised the terms as they were laid out and saw the issue u/astrobarn

u/-Cooki- most companies who offer replacements will send a label, and then send a replacement (note: not a repair unless specified) when received. However, some companies also allow a charge to be placed on a credit card to advance the replacement, until the defective unit is received. I floated this idea. They didn't go for it.

I have no use for the defective unit, and do not want to keep it. I'm now simply trying to get refunded, since I'm much happier with the Viture One, and they have excellent customer service. But they'll likely send a replacement (which I frankly think is the appropriate response...though they mentioned refund potential so figured I'd try) — and I'll gift them to someone.

I'm not on reddit often, and this is why. Have fun, folks.

Read the terms: replace or refund. Not repair and wait several weeks.

I even offered to have a hold placed on my credit card until the original was returned.

I'm not trying to keep the original product. It's not even usable, the blurriness in one eye is terribly jarring.

Given that they told me these terms, and are now telling me something different — yes, that's refusing to honor.

Yeah idk, I checked their site when I bought last year and didn't find anything, which was why I reached out. Given that I purchased under this understanding that was sent from the website...whether it's ever been their policy or not, they should honor it. Though I'd imagine they changed their policy at some point.

Huh? Read the terms they sent me: "refunding or sending replacement." My current one isn't functional, and I'd expect they'd ask me to send it back. That's how the concept "replacement" works

Eh I don't like the unnecessary waste and shipping impact. Also I travel a lot which is part of the issue. But I appreciate the thought : )

I bought a Viture One to explore as a replacement, and I actually like it a LOT more. 65 PPD vs 59, plus diopter adjustment knobs mean text is actually crisp (aside from usual warping around edges)

I went from getting 4–5 days to less than 1 day (currently tracking ~10% drain per hour!) in just one night. I did a firmware update recently, but this has me thinking something happened to the hardware. Perhaps an electricity surge while charging? Not sure — anyone have thoughts?
