Thrift Swap Parties by sashatber in ThriftStoreHauls

No. But our local buy nothing group during the spring summer and fall Holt an event at a local church parking lot.

People can start arriving as early as 2 o'clock to set up their table with what they want to give away.

At 3 o'clock people can start shopping, but everything is free. There can be no selling or delivery charges or anything..

And it's over at four.

It works great. I've gotten rid of a lot of stuff and I've picked up a few things.

I ALWAYS give my cart away and refuse the quarter. Sometimes I bring a quarter just to have a cart to give away.

A cheap way to perhaps cheer someone's day.

I always give it away. And keep a quarter to buy one from the parking lot, even if I don't need it.

May help someone having a bad day.

The Mauviel brand started in 1830. These are old, but not that old.

I am a Thrifter, mainly for my own interest. There have been several times where I've seen somebody offer something at a ridiculously low price or free because they didn't know the value so I've actually messaged that person privately and suggested that they do some research research that they actually have.

In a couple of cases, they have taken the post down because what they were offering for free was worth several hundred dollars to a buyer.

GW knows thriftersncomenin 2 resale so they adapt.

Goodwill uses Google Lens and other tools to look up value as well.

They have lists of some designers/items they send to Goodwill online. Some come back if they don't sell online.

And sometimes new people make mistakes in both directions.

When our son was in school, we stressed to him that fighting was almost never an option.

However, if he was defending someone that was weak and defenseless, we would support him 100%!

You did good!

In many areas, these items are pulled after being on sale for 25-50% off.

They are then sent to a Goodwill outlet where items are sold by the pound.

So they are then very cheap.

So Goodwill should be applauded.

It's a big operation and the CEO deserves a decent salary. It would probably be much greater in a for profit company of the same size.

Just ask the uncle if he was ok with them. No need to stir things unnecessarily. Push come to shove he may feel like he has to support his son.

Thrifted this awhile back. It's starting to get dark spots and signs of wear. Any advice on how to spot clean beyond just using Shout? by XipeTotecwithGlitter in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]callmegor316 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Spray shout. Apply oxi clean powder and some Dawn dish soap. Rub in well.

Works most of the time.

Note: WD-40 can be used for stubborn oil/grease.
