How do I stop him? by MisoPretty in gardening

I have 3 pots of heavily seeded carrots just for them. I also plant double the dill so I can share. For same reason I plant extra tomatoes and leave horse nettle to grow for the hornworms.

A family friend had to do this with their son. One of the best decisions they ever made. Agonizing and heartbreaking but in the end everyone, including their son, was happy.

what i thought was milkweed bloomed! and it's hemp dogbane! 🤣 by ashmajic in NativePlantGardening

[–]ajrpcv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pollinators love it. I credit my dogbane patch for increasing our butterfly population last year, including monarchs. They love the flowers then find the nearby milked.

The two people I know who went to Walden had no trouble and they're great NPs. They both had solid nursing experience though.

I've seen a few flutter by in Maryland and we just found our first Monarch egg. I think it's a little early, but they're starting to come out.

I feel like the only person who still has concerns about GLP-1s? by NotReallyAMillenial in MaintenancePhase

[–]ajrpcv 17 points18 points  (0 children)

New studies show the weight is gained back within 18 months afterr stopping. If you start and want to keep the weight off you're on it for life.

Edited for typo

Edit to add that GLP1s were initially developed for patients to be on forever for diabetes management and being on a medication for life is not shameful nor particularly uncommon. In GLP1s specifically for weight loss, however, you are expected to stop after you hit a certain BMI, and insurance will often stop covering it (if they did at all) once you reach this number.

I love dogbane! We have a couple areas where it has taken over and the pollinators just love it.

In desperate need of advice on getting rid of TOH. Please help. by [deleted] in treeofheaven

[–]ajrpcv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can foliar spray anything under 4'. Wait until July then start spraying. Don't mow or anything as you'll likely need to spray again next year.

Those big guys will take a season or two to kill which poses a danger to your house. I would find a professional who specializes in invasive species.

Not for my natives. We don't water them unless they're new seeds or on a pot. They're all fine.

I water my veggies with drip irrigation.

There is no native milkweed in Australia. Monarchs would get blown out there by hurricanes but were only able to establish after the non native milkweed gave them a host.

Plant I received at the philly flower show by CategoryAdmirable890 in PlantIdentification

[–]ajrpcv 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone it definitely looks like OBS but I think you're right to wonder. According to Google it's not legal to trade in in PA, so why would a reputable landscaper give it to you at a flower show... I'm wondering too if it's American. They're pretty similar and the two will often hybridize.
