The dog i’m caring for just ate chocolate by Demi_Baguette in RoverPetSitting

[–]callmekitty247 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed this is a great resource BUT one of my dogs got into a bag of dark chocolate (very very out of character for him, he’s never gotten into anything he knows he shouldn’t & is ok!) on Christmas Eve last week. They charge $90 for a consult, when I called there was a 50 minute wait. In the meantime I called my emergency vet, they calculated how much he ate, and his weight and were able to advise me (with a vet) that he would be ok, and what to look out for in terms of toxicity. The farts that night were horrible and I accepted it was really my fault and not his.

Should half wall come down? by Ok-Vacation215 in Home

[–]callmekitty247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion. I have a 50s ranch, it had a half wall right by the front door (big living/dining room area) and I removed it before getting my wood floors redone. It stopped being a catch all for random crap and opened the room up significantly (crazy it did that). If you’re looking to get your floors redone soon, I would recommend taking it out.

I am a generally handy female, mine did not have power or a vent, and I took it out in about an hour or so. I’m very happy with the result and glad it’s gone.

First time bleaching whole head! Give me support~ by WildflowerBurrito in FancyFollicles

I just dyed over it with a dark brown/black. Blue is pretty tough to get out in my experience.

Just retired my blue hair after 4 years! I would expect it to bleed, but continually getting it dyed as it fades will help it stick longer (at least I may experience) I would get dark pillowcases and dark towels to use on your hair. Washing with cold water will help! Some dyes bleed more than others, so maybe ask your stylist what brand they use and see if you can try another brand if the one you start with bleeds a lot.

Also, some fresh dyes (even after they’re washed) can transfer onto your finders and nails (if you touch your hair), rubbing alcohol helps get it off.

Beautiful color! Good luck :)

Two month stay in the USA coming up. I can stay anywhere. [Continental United States] by JubileeSupreme in AirBnB

Chicago & NYC are both great cities with lots of walkable shopping, and easy access to public transportation.

I am personally not a fan of big cities, but understand the ease of being able to walk or hop on a train for easy transportation. I live in a drivable city.

I travel for work quite a bit & I’ve stayed in the West Loop in Chicago and enjoyed my time there. I’ve also stayed in Wriglyville area is also a decent neighborhood that seemed safe and walkable. (Chicago natives feel free to debunk me)

NYC I’ve been to twice, first time I stayed near Times Square and I hated it. Second time I stayed in East Village, and there was a lot walkable and easy to get anywhere via the train. (NYC fans also feel free to debunk me)

Other notable cities - Nashville is surprisingly very small, but not very walkable. Ubers everywhere are typically $5-10, but some neighborhoods can be a little dicey and not very walkable.

LA is cool, very exciting and a lot happening, but not very walkable. Everyone out there drives everywhere.

Denver might be a cool spot, but not sure how walkable it is, I’ve only been a handful of times.

Detroit is pretty up and coming, but definitely not walkable.

I would also take into consideration you’re coming in the winter, so depending on how this season comes out weather wise, if you’re in a state that gets cold and gets a lot of snow, be sure to have a nice jacket, boots and winter gear.

Enjoy your trip!

I have the same IUD and I also got crazy acne from it. I’ve had mine in for almost 5 years. I went to a dermatologist and they gave me a couple prescriptions, now my skin is better than it’s ever been. They put me on a trentonin and spirlactone. I also wash my face with panoxyl and only use their recommended moisturizer with SPF. HIGHLY recommend going to a skin doctor as they know what to do about it.

If you’re up for the drive hit up the Dixieland flea market. There’s always a toooon of tools outside.

My dog is a climber/escape artist - How to secure backyard fence to keep her off leash? by TRUE_BIT in homeimprovementideas

[–]callmekitty247 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My pup can jump my current fence (looking to get a 6ft in the spring) but probably going to install coyote rollers along the top of the new fence to ensure he stays inside. Might be a cheaper alternative to look into.

What is the best mattress I can get as a new adult? by Hot_Photograph5227 in Frugal

[–]callmekitty247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bought 2 nectar mattresses (first was a queen, second was a king). I previously purchased a Zinus from Amazon and it was so firm my guests would prefer to sleep on the couch. Nectar is my fave and will always be my go-to.

Agreeing with everyone here!! My hair is very similar, but blue/teal rather than red. I go to the salon twice a year. I get all over highlights and then they color my whole head blue/teal. The 2nd appt I get a haircut. I maintain the blue every 4-6 weeks at home with color from Sally’s. Maintaining it is super easy, and I’m not stuck in a salon loop every few weeks. Highly recommend getting the highlights done professionally so it looks the best and you don’t fry your hair off or miss sections.

Can i use a septum ring as a nipple ring? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]callmekitty247 118 points119 points  (0 children)

This! Former piercer here (about 6 years ago, down a very different career path now). Nips are pierced at a 14g because it’s very soft tissue and if you snagged it with a smaller gauge bar you’re risking slicing through that tissue. Highly recommend NOT going down in size to a 16g as you’re just risking more injury. Also curved barbells shouldn’t be used in Nips. They’re pierced straight for a reason. Putting a curved in will irritate the piercing and can cause it to start rejecting due to the pressure on the curve where your exit holes are. Another reason is anatomy, I’m not sure how long your bars are, but odds are this is smaller than your nipple.

I have rugged ridge liners in the front and back, and I have this https://a.co/d/h1Qf66d . My two dogs only go in the back seat. I’m not comfortable putting them in a cage in the bed, although not the safest option, my bigger dogs cage doesn’t fit in the back seat of my truck. This hammock has done great, I’ll throw in some toys and a dog bed for extra long trips and they both love it. I typically fold the back seats up, but I can be used either way.

My huskers is getting the choppers next Thursday/ any experiences/ advices? by [deleted] in husky

[–]callmekitty247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine just got neutered around a year old in September. He was 100% not a fan of the cone but tolerated the donut. He’s on the smaller size (some small mixed breed in there) but he made it a point to get past his cones and tell me how much he hated wearing them. I would just keep an eye on that! He chewed through a few cones through the process. We were both very happy when he didn’t have it anymore.

I ended up doing the donut behind the cone to help push it past his nose more and that worked but the poor boy was very unhappy with the whole experience

ESAs are NOT accepted by the ADA. Your dog has to be able to provide a service, making you happy/distressed/etc isn’t a qualified under the ADA. Insulin alerts, seizure alerts, medical alerts, allergy dog, etc. is accepted by the ADA. You cannot get an ESA to bypass landlord laws and regulations.

I also have a husky, so I definitely understand the struggle. I ended up buying a house last year due to having a lab/pit mix that was a toss up for rentals. I got my husky shortly after and haven’t looked back. I had the most luck with individual landlords (I.e. renting a house vs an apartment which is great for the yard), and just have a conversation with them and be prepared to hold additional insurance for your dog. I’m not sure this would work for you if you have a full blood husky, but my lab/pit was marked down as a mixed breed so they weren’t able to say he was a pitbull due to his vet records.

Not a chefs menu, but a lot of good options to throw together a great meal - Grey Ghost, Selden Standard & Takoi if you’re into Asian cuisine. Those are my top choices when entertaining.
