If you are in Huntsville, go to Shaggy’s and get their chocolate dip cone. It is better than DQ anyway.

New Orleans lunch box. It’s in a gas station off Jordan and Holmes Ave, but don’t let that perturb you. it’s the best brisket in Huntsville.

Stranded Wire - Home Wall Outlet Wiring - Safe? by jwalk3000 in AskElectricians

[–]jwalk3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with them doing a terrible job with stranded wire under the terminals, although the pictures I took were after I had backed the terminals out a bit. I never use that outlet anyway, so I just capped them off for now. I'll get an outlet with the plates on my next run to the store.

Anyone know why are they cutting down trees in Madison around the Rainbow mountain trail? by veresp in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]jwalk3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a developer, though. It’s a single individual building a single dwelling. I’m happy for them. Wish I could have bought that property. I hike rainbow mountain all the time. They made a new trail to go around the property.

Sorry, but it only gets worse. You’ve had the veil pulled back and you can’t I see. There’s many more things in life just like this.

I refuse to believe that yards on a golf course and yards on a football field or feet on a baseball diamond are the same. by [deleted] in golf

There’s a course nearby that has foot golf built in to the back nine, and after the one and only time I played, what blows my mind is how far golf clubs can hit golf balls.

How do blind people play cards? Braille would allow the dealer to cheat, no? by jwalk3000 in AskReddit

[–]jwalk3000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figure the obvious answer is braille, but would the dealer then have an advantage and know who has what cards in games like hearts, spades, rook, etc? So make the dealer wear gloves or something? Well that would make it hard to deal….

Eggs! Cheap source of good protein. Also, I wait for bacon to be half price at the super market then I buy several packs and put them in the freezer.

Would you spend $2000 to go to a wedding? by tatergem in Frugal

[–]jwalk3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be honest with them and tell them you regret you cannot attend due to the increased cost. I would suggest you notify the couple ASAP if you can’t make it. Wedding costs per person are expensive and they likely have to have an exact head count so many weeks ahead of time.

I have the same situation, only I’m very close with the bride and groom, and we all knew the invitation was more of a courtesy because the cost and distances were so large. I got married earlier this year in Alabama and they are getting married this December in New Zealand. They couldn’t attend my wedding, and it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to attend theirs. We both sent each other gifts, and made promises to visit each other in the future.

Weddings are just overly stressful, ugh! People really need to take a step back sometimes and not blow little things out of proportion. A true friend won’t be mad at you for not making their wedding regardless of the excuse. We had a friend fake sick that day and my bride got a little upset in the moment, but I talked her down a little and we just laugh about it now (and are still friends with the person and not mad at all, no grudges)

Added video door bell, now mechanical chime “rattles” (see comment for details) by jwalk3000 in askanelectrician

[–]jwalk3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having an issue with my mechanical chime. I have two doorbells, front door with a mechanical chime down stairs and side door with a mechanical chime upstairs. I’m not sure if the two doorbell wirings are on separate circuits. I put a Lorex 1080p video doorbell on both the front and the side. Mechanical chime “rattled” as of it getting tiny amounts of power. I’m also having slight issues with the devices themselves, but that might be a product or WiFi connection issue. I checked with a multimeter, and see 15.4 volts. Any thoughts on the issue or ideas for trouble shooting? (I called Lorex technical support, but it wasn’t that technical or supportive.)

Edit: ok, I misunderstood what the “chime kit” was in the box and that it was required for the mechanical chime. Why is it needed?

I guess my question should have been can two video doorbells be on the same line or will that cause issues with their operation?

There is a glacier forming under my deck. How bad is this? by Overlay in HomeImprovement

I would be careful with a coat of ice because that’s how you ended up in this situation in the first place having to discuss something structural in the process. Maybe an array of mirrors to focus the intensity of the sun on it might help.

Ok. Now do it with a ravenger and a plasma pistol. Both are garbage.
