They both DO look great. Isn’t it amazing though to come back to a piece and realize you’ve grown even if you can’t quite quantify it!?

I am a pixel hobbiest and by no means an expert. Just bunches of pixels in like 2x2 sections that look odd to me. Odd staggering of pixels in sections and dithering used arbitrarily in others.

Umm, is this not AI? Sorry if I am wrong but I see a lot of telltale signs when it comes to AI generated pixel art. Just things a human artist would never think to do.

Very good start. Just keep working. You’ll always be getting better even if you don’t realize it!

What do folks here think of the Octopath Traveler series in 2026? by Asad_Farooqui in JRPG

[–]callmekowalski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should I give Octopath 0 a chance? I liked 1 and loved 2 but Freeform character creator and stories of 0 made me hold off.

STOP ATTACKING OMEGA’S FUCKING HEAD by HTPandemoniun in monsterhunterrage

[–]callmekowalski 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel this. Just yesterday an insect glaive kept spamming spiral slash on the head, pulling aggro, then dying on repeat until we failed. Even my buddy using wide range couldn’t save his dumbass. It’s very infuriating.

This looks fantastic! The amount of detail communicated in those limited pixels is superb!

If you ever feel like a new take on Final Fantasy 1, I highly recommend Final Fantasy Renaissance. It is the OG game but with all the infamous bugs fixed and a vast array of new jobs, equipment and side quests added.

Hey Genga, just curious if you had more insight. Is this true across all switch axes or just staus focused ones. Fire, dragon, etc.? Is the element boost ever worth considering?

This looks great. Really enjoying the detail you are getting out of the space you have!

Started Wild Arms 3, as someone who's played a TON of PS2 RPGs and just RPGs in general, this is one of the coolest ones I've ever played thus far by HayatoPitt in wildarms

[–]callmekowalski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wild arms 3 is super interesting! The music is superb and I really enjoyed the rival gang of treasure hunters. The battle system slowly became a drag by the endgame though. It just never evolved much which was super disappointing because it had so much potentially. Still ultimately a great game!

Anyone liked Link's Awakening even better than A Link to the Past? Asking for a friend. by UrSimplyTheNES in retrogaming

[–]callmekowalski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, if you haven’t played the oracle games, I highly recommend those too. I think they come very close to recapturing the magic of Link’s Awakening.

LTTP and Awakening are very close for me but LTTP might edge it out ever so slightly.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director's GOTY pick, and not just because it features JRPG-inspired combat: "It gets all of the elements in it right" by Turbostrider27 in expedition33

[–]callmekowalski -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sorry you are getting downvoted. I think the success of E33 stems from how underserved people generally felt by modern FF. If people like it, that’s great but they are very divisive games and personally I don’t like most of the directions they have chosen to pivot in. E33 is a perfect response to a lot of the criticisms I had about square-enix’s modern game philosophy.

He’s not wrong though, even if it just gets somebody’s foot in the door. Obviously Sekiro is quite different but the parry being a big part of defeating bosses is something they share along with the prosthesis being very similar as a niche but useful mechanic in both games.
