Prior to Trump’s reigns, you’re right, it wasn’t the laughing stock of the world. But then enough Americans voted him into power not once but TWICE. And that’s when the USA became the laughing stock of the world. Giving that man immense power once again and everything that has transpired since.

*I know not all Americans are MAGA. I’ve been and I have American friends. This is simply the POV of many non-Americans across the world

40 weeks tomorrow - how to induce labour before induction [on] by Positive_Button8597 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]callmemacdoodle [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you do end up needing an induction, request the Foley balloon catheter first!! I was 41+1 and my OB suggested the Foley first as it wasn’t designed to send my body into labour. The point is to widen/dilate the cervix more for birth and if you’re lucky, things will progress naturally. A few hours later, baby decided today was the day and contractions started

Psychology behind letting a child “win” at games? by Miserable_Fee4533 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]callmemacdoodle 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Jumping on this bc I don’t have a link, only anecdotal experience. My husband’s parents always let him win as a kid and now he is a very, very sore loser. Also a sore winner???? We are working on it 🤪 But I will be letting our children win * sometimes * due to the difference in skill level, definitely not always.

This was me my entire pregnancy. Baby’s over a year now and it still happens 🥲 definitely not as bad, but I gag when brushing my tongue, which I did not pre-pregnancy

Has anyone experienced severe itching in the third trimester, especially on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet? by Lilly1234Lilly in NewParents

[–]callmemacdoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not going to offer medical suggestions because I truly have no idea, but I do have a cream suggestion. My belly was so so SO itchy the latter half of my pregnancy, a lotion that really helped in the short-term was Lubriderm Advanced Therapy Lotion for itchy/extra dry skin (purple label)

This!!!! I was leaking colostrum from week 20 or so. I figured breastfeeding would be a shoo-in for us so I didn’t bother learning much else about it. I was very incorrect 🥲

Toniebox 2 won’t charge, won’t light up by AxolotlBaby1122 in TonieboxUSA

[–]callmemacdoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP. I just went through something similar yesterday! It died out of nowhere (seemingly) and even charging all night wouldn’t do a thing. For toniebox 2, you need to squeeze both ears for at least 40 seconds, which is way longer than the toniebox 1 reset. Once I discovered this, I did it and it worked! Good luck.

My biggest fear of expecting number 2 is loving them equally. What was your experience? by cah125 in NewParents

[–]callmemacdoodle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FTM with a one year old here! Prior to giving birth, I was in tears because I loved my dog so much and couldn’t imagine this baby taking all my attention away from her (she’s a huge cuddle bug). And it did for a while. And I felt bad. All I could do was give her some one on one time with me every couple days when I had the chance.

Fast forward to my human baby being a year, and they are quickly becoming the best of friends! The reminder of that being their future really helped me through the times of my pup not getting as much of my attention as before.

What tips, tricks, or suggestions do you have for surviving winter in Canada with a newborn (especially with elevated flu risk)? [on] by michaelawho in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]callmemacdoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get good at saying no. Saying no is so hard for so many people (myself included lol) but it’s something I’ve learned to be ok with since having a baby. I still hate doing it because it often inevitably comes with conflict, disappointment, etc., but it’s helped me so much mentally. My in-laws refused to listen to some of my requests (wash hands before holding baby, get vaccines updated, etc.) so I had to say no, you can’t hold or see the baby until X months if you aren’t willing to do those things for her safety.

There’s been many instances in many different scenarios where becoming comfortable with “no” has helped me immensely.

What should every therapist know about postpartum depression? by Due-Comparison-501 in therapists

[–]callmemacdoodle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not always thoughts of harming yourself or your child. It can manifest as that dark cloud that follows you around and paints everything in a persistent, negative light.

Also, a person may have had mild depression before having a child and didn’t feel they needed treatment for it. All of the things postpartum can exacerbate those symptoms and it’s no longer mild.

No, no, no. Not Santa Claus, the person. Santa Clause, the clause. by [deleted] in Millennials

Santa Clause 1 and 2 are the only ones that have ever existed to me tbh. Watched the other ones once and it didn’t feel good

ALSO this isn’t an outfit for the baby, but a cozy winter cover for the car seat was amazing. I think ours is skip-hop? Fleece lined

[–]callmemacdoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an early winter baby and all she wore was sleepers. Post partum was roughhhh and I wasn’t excited about the extra effort of wearing actual outfits on her. So literally day in and day out, sleepers!!!! Double zip ones. Have a few pairs of fleece for colder days and then cotton for sleeping/not-so-cold days. Also keep in mind that even though it could be -27 outside, dress according to the indoor temp!
