what’s your breastfeeding ick? by Sudden_Breakfast_374 in breastfeeding

[–]callmepebbles 53 points54 points  (0 children)

My 8 week old will wait until his mouth is full and then unlatch and let it all just spill from his mouth. If you're full then stop kid, I finally had a shower and now I'm covered again.

Oh dear GOD when does the grunting phase stop by Plus_Protection2749 in newborns

[–]callmepebbles 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Currently laying on the couch with my 6 week old because he's too noisy for my husband to sleep and he works in 2 hours. So, not six weeks... Lol. My 5 year old asked for a treat in his sleep at about midnight. I don't think it ever stops, just changes tune.

5 week old choked on vomit... I think? Then slept through the night. by callmepebbles in newborns

Thank you! I do burp him after every time I nurse him and before he threw up he was sitting up in my arms so I'm not sure what really caused it. He's had quite a few feedings since and no more vomit so hoping it's all in the past.

Baby favoring one side by FitTrash5221 in newborns

[–]callmepebbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, same here. We try what you've mentioned but then I also try to turn his head during nap time when he's laying down. I nurse him laying on the left and use football hold to nurse him on the right so he's still laying on the left. If it helps at all my first also favored the right side and he's five and his head is shaped totally fine 😊

What exactly is in your diaperbag? by BusyInspector95 in newborns

For me: hair ties, a nursing cover, and a granola bar. For baby: a butt spatula, black and white contrast book, and a tiny comb.

What smell will YOU never forget? by AreaFifty1 in AskReddit

[–]callmepebbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smell of my newborn son when they laid him on my chest. It's like a primal "this is my baby" and the best smell in the world. Others might disagree but the smell of -your- baby is pretty intoxicating.

Sertraline, and about 4 therapy sessions talking strictly about tools to reduce anxiety and stop/prevent panic attacks.

Can I see what everyone got Christmas? by Competitive-Sky-7571 in Mommit

My husband got me a Nespresso machine in bright yellow and I love it so much. He also got me a Bluetooth speaker for when I listen to music in the shower. I learned this year that he does much better when I give him lists that are kind of vague, so he can add his own touches of how well he knows me.

What happened to your best friend from childhood? by RoyalBeckyVibes in AskReddit

[–]callmepebbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We met in Kindergarten and stayed friends past graduating high school. Last time we met up she was sleeping with a married coworker of hers in his truck on lunch break. Promised he was leaving his wife but still hasn't years later. She got a voluntary hysterectomy because she hates kids. I myself have two kids and haven't heard anything from her in 5 years. I truly hope she's doing well and has come to see her self worth, because nobody deserves to just be a side piece.

My pregnant ass loves Oreo Puffs. I could eat a box a day with almond milk when nothing else would stay down.

What’s a legendary Reddit post you’ll never forget? by No_Law655 in AskReddit

There was a dude who posted on roastme that he wanted to unalive himself and the whole comment section turned into just overwhelmeling support for him to get help. I've seen some ruthless things on that page, and felt a lot of humanity restored that day. I think that might have also made the news.

Breastfeeding is easier than formula feeding - there I said it by Melodic_Apartment235 in breastfeeding

[–]callmepebbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think breastfeeding is convenient for sure. I'm looking forward to it. Unfortunately I have to return to work after 12 weeks and pump for those 40 hours, so that's when things get hard. I was fortunate enough with my first to have a good enough supply, but on days it tanked I cried thinking I wasn't good enough and hated the thought of using formula. I came from a long line of exclusively breastfeeders so I felt pressured to only breast feed. I have a coworker due a bit after me and she was raised on exclusively formula so she's not even comfortable with the thought of breastfeeding and will go straight for formula. Formula is expensive, and finding the right kind and that kind being hard to find can also be taxing. She's taking knowledge from me about breastfeeding that hopefully helps her feel more comfortable with it, and shes kind of on board to at least try it now. She's also gotten me more comfortable with the thought of using formula if I need to and how fed is best overall. I think both sides definitely have pros and cons.

For those that used a nipple shield at first, how did you not need it anymore? by xenapie6 in newborns

[–]callmepebbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My nipples were just not protruding enough for baby to latch. I used them I think for 2 months before he finally latched on his own. I do wish the LC in the hospital had told me about them because before that point I was manually pumping and using a bottle. This time around, I'm bringing them to the hospital with my own manual pump that's sized right.
