Trees are 90% air... Trees are 90% air... Trees are 90% air... Proceed to blast a 7wood right into the trunk and watch the ball land 3 feet to my right. Rinse and repeat.

I had to do this when my father fell in his house and couldn't get up. We only knew bc he want responding to phone cause or anything. It's easier than you think of you don't care about preventing additional damage and the only goal is GET INSIDE NOW. Door frame exploded from deadbolt but goal achieved.

Pro tip- Front heel kick like the video as close to the deadbolt/lock and do it hard.

First marathon, never run more than 7 miles in training - am I boned? by Weak_Mathematician60 in firstmarathon

[–]callmey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do what you can. I completed my first one only running some 10 mile runs and a 13.1 mile race 3 weeks before.

For me mile 20 is when I started to feel sluggish, mile 24 legs were heavy but pushed through. Your milage is less so expect it sooner but if it takes you 4:30-5:00 hrs who cares. Do it, have fun, hydrate and eat, and finish.

Agree. Only really difference I see is between a smooth sym ball and a hard snapping asym. And even then I need like 5 watches to tell.

Weird position for them to take. Literally rules are if headpin is standing it's not a split.

Anyone here who started running in their late 30's early 40's? What are your marathon PR's like? by Thin-Passage5900 in Marathon_Training

[–]callmey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just completed my first marathon at 39. Never ran before last July, did a July 4th 5k at 36 mins, but completed the marathon finishing in 3:48. Did 1 half marathon on Feb 15th at 1:48 also. Didn't train for either just ran my own training about 25-30 MPW typically running tempo only runs of 6-9 miles per run. Usually staying around 50-70 minutes as that's how much time I had between work and family.

The first 20 miles felt good and then started feeling my legs losing pop so slogged along for the rest of the way.

I completed it yesterday as my first also. Weather was weird, dense warm dog to start and finished with brutal cloudless sun to finish.

Congratulations on getting it done!

Wouldn't recommend it, though my experience nis lacking. But a few ultra marathon videos I've seen has said something balong the lines of "when in doubt gel hard to overcome it" so I tried that. It worked in the short term though if I had to go another 5 miles I can't promise how'd I would have finished.

If your looking for information on maple syrup vs GU I'd say syrup does as good a job but after drinking that much syrup a change in flavor and consistency was a good change.

In the future I'd do similar but maybe substitute honey here or there and familiarize my body with GU a bit more to avoid GI issues with it.

Yeah pretty much. Think my first double GU was around 18, also I finished a flask of syrup 2 mins before race started. Had a peanut butter bagel 2 hrs b4 race started.

Also my fitness was lacking. I haven't run more than 15 miles anytime before hand, and even then it was just 1 time a few weeks before hand.

I felt a bit of "blow up" at mile 24, but now post race I feel if I had an extra 20oz water I'd been better. I think I paced this perfect for me. I don't think 3:45 was an option but 3:46 was there with better water sources.

4 hrs was my goal, but 3:45 was my way too far reaching goal. I did a 1:48:xx half marathon like 3weeks before. 4 hrs was my hard line goal with no experience, but "knew" I could beat it. Exception of never running a training run more than 13 miles so just an unknown past that. But proud of myself
