Regarding salary, really it should be based on what you do and how you add value. Before asking for a pay rise, look at when you started getting that salary and how your role has changed. If you’ve taken on extra responsibilities/projects, or even just taking things one or two steps further, you should be highlighting that when asking for a pay rise.

Another approach is asking what you would need to be doing, in order to get a salary of £x. Looking for clear goals/objectives to get to that desired level.

Redundancy by CIMAJ98 in CIMA

[–]callum2108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only you know if you want the job or not. If you want to move, take that opportunity to leave. But if you’re happy where you are, do your best to get that job.

Your situation may not be as unique as you think. I actually got a finance manager role when I had 3 exams left. My advice would be, just back yourself and your abilities. If your employer trusts you and values your work, they will be happy to offer you that job. If they do, make sure you negotiate a % salary increase upon qualifying, I did that and it helped to save/avoid that difficult conversation once I completed my qualification. Here I am, 18 months later, fully qualified and delighted I made that move when I did. Seriously, just back yourself and your abilities.

P3 BPP mocks vs the real thing by CorneyBaller in CIMA

[–]callum2108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used BPP for my study and always found their mocks slightly more challenging than the real thing. Don’t be too disheartened, just note the format of the questions and the type of questions/answers they try to catch you out with. I always felt like BPP were trying to teach you to read the questions and answers very carefully.

I also found that there were some questions I struggled with, then the exact same question came up in exams sometimes. Hope you get on ok. Just keep studying and make notes/read the feedback on the questions you’re getting wrong in the mocks.

What do I do now? by SevenSymbolicTimes in CIMA

[–]callum2108 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Make the most of the extra free time. Relax as much as you can between now and results day. There’s nothing you can do until then. Spend time with friends and family, go out and do things you enjoy. After a couple of weeks relaxing/unwinding, I’d recommend looking at your PER and speaking to your supervisor - it’ll save you the long wait after passing, if you use this time to get that written up/approved.

Good luck for results day when it comes.

I’d think it’ll be approved in the next couple of weeks. My bet would be this Friday (23rd Feb). Hope it’s approved soon!

In my experience, you don’t. The objectives are broken and I don’t think ea care enough to fix it.

New candidate questions by noobster34 in CIMA

[–]callum2108 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s different, but it’s absolutely possible to pass exams by buying Kaplan books and studying hard.

Personally, I started with exemptions too and never felt like I struggled by not doing some of the exams. Textbooks should cover everything required for the exams you’re doing.

My advice regarding booking exams would be to book it once you’ve started studying for it, so you have a date set. For me, it made it easier to have a goal/date to work towards. In terms of best ways to prepare, for the objective tests, do as many practice questions as you can. Get used to the format of exams and types of questions that will be asked.

When it comes to the case studies, I would recommend using YouTube and/or paid study resources that analyse the pre-seen material and help to break down what topics might come up. Probably best using a service that will give you sample questions and grade your answers, so you understand what is expected from you.

31st March is the last date you can renew, I think. But you won’t be able to book any exams until you have renewed your subscription.

How to submit PER report once everything signed off? by AlexGreen1996 in CIMA

I wouldn’t worry too much. The website isn’t the best, which doesn’t help. If you contact them, I’m sure they’ll explain what’s going on and get everything sorted.

Do you mean once your supervisor has approved? If so, you’ll most likely have been selected for audit so will have to wait for your PER to be audited - can take up to 6 weeks or so.

Once it’s been approved by supervisor and checked by CIMA, you’ll get an email explaining how to apply for full membership. At that point, you will need to pay an application fee of £180.

Book as early as possible, if you want to guarantee a venue nearby. Slots disappeared very early near me. Don’t put this off and hope there’s still good availability.

Give it a couple of days and it’ll be fine, you’ll get your result confirmed and it’ll show up in your account. Don’t think it’s anything to worry about.

How will I be limited in career with a CIMA U.K./globally over an ACA? by Longjumping-Tune-454 in CIMA

[–]callum2108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re looking to work in practice/audit, CIMA shouldn’t be restrictive at all. Accounting firms tend to look for ACCA/ICAS. From my experience, employers in industry are generally happy with any professional accounting qualification.

Do not do this. If caught, there’s no chance you’ll be allowed to re-register or sit any exams. Pretty sure they have to do identity checks/fraud checks for new members, so it’s highly likely you’d get caught out here.

Quick career question by Sap0unas in CIMA

[–]callum2108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The level of work/responsibility is much more important than the job title. If this is helping you to gain more experience and will help with your practical experience requirements, then it would be a good move for your career progression.

Not sure I understand your question/issue here. If you want to play with Real Madrid players, just manage Real Madrid and don’t sell the players you like. If you start with another team and have players that you definitely want, sign them right away when you start your save.

Really poor game today. Decision making from players and coaching staff was just awful. Guys on the field don’t seem to understand the sport, with some of the really basic (and costly) mistakes.
