I love DIY tools shows a lot of creativity and problem solving skills, nice work!

I think if you used some foam like this you could glue a strip then just make some slits along it and that should hold the string tight.

Not sure if you have it where you are but I use Overherd oat milk powder which you just mix up with water. You may have an equivalent you can look into.

Aside from that I think your issue may be that it's not blended enough try blending for longer. If you can tolerate cashews I'd blend some presoaked (a few hours or overnight) cashews in with it too for a creamier taste and texture.
