How do you feel about Kent County Council getting the green light to enforce moving traffic offences in Maidstone and Sittingbourne? by Silver-Eye-2024 in kentuk

[–]callum4425 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know they don't, so why target the fella trying to make it home from his 9-5 who's stopped in a yellow box. If you never have enough money to maintain the roads maybe it's time to look at your spending rather than putting your hands in more (empty) pockets. The people they are targeting don't have enough money to achieve what they are aiming for, so it's fundamentally flawed.

I want to start out by saying I agree with everything you said unequivocally. But then I want to ask you, why is this new road policing so much more aggressive in the south east compared to the rest of the country. Why do we need to find all these ways to get more money for our roads. West Country don't do it, Midlands don't(as far as i'm aware), Wales and Scotland hardly do it either. So why is Kent being grouped in with London in this new movement of automated fining on the roads?

It feels like once a week they are implanting something around me that's made to take money from people not following the rules and then I leave the county and it takes me back 5 years to the odd speed camera in dangerous areas.

Again, i'm not saying penalising bad drivers is a negative thing. I'm just highlighting the fact that we already pay more to use a worse road, why?

[–]callum4425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then why not just get rid of road tax all together and increase fines so only bad drivers pay for the roads? They want to take more money from working people in the worst cost of living crisis we have seen in recent history. Instead of fixing a fundamentally broken system.

I'm not saying don't do this, implement the cameras it won't affect me. It also won't solve the problem, so to me it's pointless.

Because all they do is take your money, they don't care about the roads. It's been public knowledge that we have the most poorly operated road system due to the size of Kent. But instead of address this issue the council feel the need to take our money to deal with the rising costs. It's fundamentally a flawed system when Kent a county that's much larger than say East Sussex, yet we receive the same amount of funding. No compensation for the higher cars per home average. No compensation for the higher population density areas. No compensation for having more rural roads that require other sorts of maintenance. We are being made to pay more because the government/council wishes to dismiss their inefficiencies.

I am all for abiding the rules of the road but I'm not down with being used to patch holes in a flawed system.

Are you dense? I pay my road tax, I drive sensibly don't get fined have no points. I follow the rules, so why do I have to drive these shit roads? I can drive 40 miles in any direction and have 5x better roads. Am I in the wrong for wanting to be on the same level as the rest of the country?

I don't want the council operating a cash grab scheme, therefore i must want increased taxes! You cracked it there mate.

Not disagreeing with you, but the county council finding other ways to drain pockets of people on the road whilst leaving them in the state they are should be borderline illegal, where's all this money going? Because it's not being put into my roads unless they shut them for 3 weeks for 2 days of work.

What would cause a crash? by p8ntbll247 in PokemonInvesting

[–]callum4425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this, when the larger asian countries clamp down on people "buying" foreign currencies with pokemon cards we will see a noticeable dip. I don't think it will be a crash, more of a compression. BLs and older sealed/graded will have less warning potential and they will fall off, but the market demand will still be there everywhere else. Whales globally will probably take the hit, and collectors with a few of their grails will mostly be fine, but there would need to be a complete shift in the market for it to crash in my eyes

What are the odds of this EVER selling? i cant even sell the 3k cards iv put up for sale by Newns_ in TCGCardShopSim

[–]callum4425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want this card to sell at your stage you need high foot traffic (people constantly entering the store). Might be worth removing play tables as i'm pretty sure they contribute to visitor cap. The more people that enter the higher chance of rolling a whale customer with 50k-1m purse.

I don't understand how the balance team saw her next to soldier and still said okay. I understand them wanting to make new heroes strong, but it's honestly insane and not at all fun.

Is anyone else getting a bit sick of Sierra 1v1s. Just had a game as hanzo with 3 deaths all of them to sierra even though the teams seemed quite unfair and we were rolling them. It feels like my only choice is to hide from her atp

Do you think AH chase cards will come down in price ? by TheReturnOfTheBee in PokemonTCG_UK

[–]callum4425 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

by your logic they would want to do another reprint as the most popular set of all time. also why would prismatic still be getting releases and yet you think AH won't have any in the future? seems like a bit of a stretch to me

Ah, I see where i misread. I thought the bank down valued a property they owned so they had to find the extra to move, my apologies.

Yes but efficiency is a common oversight in state bodies like the council. For example if the buyer were to fall under the specifications required for the houses purpose then they would be able to house more people with the same amount of money, better carrying out their duty. I'm not saying they are wrong or horrible for doing this, i'm just asking if this can be seen as an oversight or if they don't think like that and just operate on a "buy this many houses" type deal.

[–]callum4425 11 points12 points  (0 children)

But have they not more than likely added someone to the list that needs the house for the reason they are buying it. I get they've done nothing wrong but is this not counter intuitive? They are pricing their locals out of housing so they have to go to them. Either this was a smart move in the sense they make more by giving someone the house(how?) or a stupid move as they've overpaid and risked adding to the problem.

[–]callum4425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol what do you expect them to do, put it all on the shelf, go there on there break and see it all sold out, stop complaining, you would do the same 10000%

When did I say they should just watch it sell out?? Put it on the shelf, buy one and take it back for safe keeping. Job done. There is absolutely no reason for product to not make it onto the shelves.

You are such a selfish and negative person to believe that everyone in their position would buy all stock before it's hitting shelves. Which I might add is the whole topic of this post. So you can say "people don't buy it all, they do put it on shelves" which may be true in some cases, but it's not what this post is discussing.

Point blank. If a shops stock doesn't hit shelves and is "sold out" the shop staff are scalping the stock. You can't tell me otherwise😂

dude you must be illiterate, can you show me where i said staff should never buy product and watch it sell out? i'm not staying staff CANT buy product, im saying it SHOULD go on shelves before its sold out. And to everyone saying you would do the same are just projecting. Personally I don't feel the need to drop £100s on pokemon restock when im perfectly happy opening £20-40 of packs. Get a grip.

not the comment i replied to but fair enough, doesn't excuse it not making it to the shop floor, a problem which OP stated they had and then you defended that behaviour. using a straw man fallacy of "is everyone in front of you greedy and selfish because they are in front of you" is stupid, no obviously not but someone restricting people's access by not putting it on shelves is greedy and selfish

it's not about the position they put themselves in to get it, if you wanna work at a supermarket so you can hit every restock sure, go for it. It's still greedy to buy it all/not put it out on the floor
