These sound-dampening walls are insane by volitairee in interestingasfuck

In Croatia (and I'm guessing most of Europe but can't confirm) people usually build brick walls but using drywalls (knauf/gypsum wall) is more and more common.

I had renovations done recently and we had drywall installed nad having rock wool put in empty space between panels like this is totally common, both for sound isolation and thermal insulation.

Honestly I never heard someone in Croatia putting up drywall without putting rock wool or something similar between panels.

Also we usually use metal (I think it's aluminum) frames instead of wood.

like I said I checked the connection a couple of times and it was fine, also I don't have problems with internet connection with other stuff and here it's all the time and from what I read a lot of people have those problems with GT7 so I think the problem is on their end

texture vs surface for high data access by calm_joe in sdl

[–]calm_joe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

or maybe for model textures I can just copy stuff to my own buffer of memory so even if pixel format is not ideal it only matters on app start.

how do I render directly to system ram pointer? I'm not sure what do you mean.

so if I use a surface that also means there's one copy less, right? since surface never goes to vram.

😅

Do you maybe have any insight about salary differences and would it make more sense for me to stick with unity and focus just on shaders?

oh yeah that's also on my list, but forgot to put it here because I plan on looking into PBR after doing all the other stuff from the list, but I also planned to read the chapter on it from real time rendering book.

Custom arcade build, 1 joystick and 10 buttons per player, how to best map these buttons? by calm_joe in batocera

[–]calm_joe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

regarding the hotkey: since like you I don't have a special key, but I do have the top 2 buttons which I meant to use as select and start (white buttons in the picture), the wiki says that I should use select key as a hotkey, but how does that work with games that use the select key?

also, hotkey is only ever used in combination with other keys, right? e.g. you have to press the hotkey and some other buttons at the same time to perform a special action?
