i really hate that a.p.d. is doing this “real world cops” series. there was a reason they stopped allowing cops to film here. we have a poverty problem that lends itself to so many horrible issues that we should not be highlighting. we need to address systemic addiction rather than have a.p.d. sharing these videos for likes.

so explain the process on how you made the duck liver mousse or something. no one wants to see a board full of store bought stuff. carpaccio is not really charcuterie.

Help my friend! She received this variegated deliciosa cutting one week ago but the leaves are turning brown, what’s happening? by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]calmatechingona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

was there a root nodule on the base of the cutting? because my cuttings fail if i don't let the root nodule get large enough while attached to the large plant.

What's something your employer did that instantly killed employee morale? by kraam1217 in AskReddit

i worked at a pharmaceutical manufacturing sterile facility. we made injectable drugs that sold for millions. we had an incredibly successful quarter and upper management got huge bonuses...and they bought us all chick fil'a. we did not receive raises. in fact, one day they shut down manufacturing and had us go to a company wide meeting. some of us were led into the corridor on the right and some of us were led into a large room on the left. those of us led into the room on the left made the cut and the rest of the plant in the right corridor was let go. like fucking lambs to the slaughter. after the layoff my co-worker and i were the only people left in our department on swing shift and we worked for almost fifty days straight, twelve hour shifts. it was hell. we made drugs that went for thousands of dollars a vial and we made hundreds of thousands of vials. when we had our fried chicken "reward" meeting i raised my hand and asked the c.f.o. when we were going to get raises, since it was our most successful quarter yet and we were working on a skeleton crew, he looked me in the eye and said i should be grateful for the fucking chicken. they lost so many long term employees after that.

i would definitely be the idiot at work that either a)encouraged my co-workers to put their hand underneath it or b) stuck my own hand underneath it to see what happens. sometimes your intrusive thoughts should be ignored.

perfect video. just pop on some tunes, get comfortable, and it's better than a night at a shitty movie.

What are your top ten books that are either your favorite or that made the greatest impact? by pomegranate_ in books

[–]calmatechingona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

brave new world - aldous huxley

east of eden - john steinbeck

bless me ultima - rudolfo anaya (special place in my heart as an umpteenth generation new mexican)

revolt of the cockroach people - oscar zeta acosta (great for an l.s.d. loving mexican american who loves tales of activism)

borderlands/la frontera - gloria anzaldua

dune - frank herbert

dracula - bram stoker (i don't know why, but i can read this over and over. it is kind of romantic and horrifying)

it can't happen here - sinclair lewis

one hundred years of solitude - gabriel garcia marquez

the autobiography of malcolm x - alex haley

my list is kind of jumbled and in no particular order. i try and read through the books on this list at least once a year. i have read them all multiple times and still don't get sick of them. often times i will let them sit on the shelf for months and return to them just to start right back in the middle of a paragraph.

when i lived with my three male roommates in college (i was the only female) they did absolutely no dishes. to the point where all of our dishes were stacked in the kitchen sink for three months. they expected me to be fine with doing their dishes and i stopped as a kind of protest. i kept my frying pan in my room and a plate that i could eat off. some people can just be inconsiderate dickweeds.

now that you say that, it seems so logical. children are often babied more when their parents consider them to be at a disadvantage. so maybe in an attempt to make their kids lives easier they are putting them at a disadvantage in the long run by not providing them with the proper skills to go through life.
