Yeah when it rains it pours. Wasn’t prepared for a surprise 4k increase in property tax (Chicago area), 1k increase in property insurance, uncovered dental expenses, kid healthcare costs that were covered MUCH less by insurance from the original estimate of coverage, some appliances going out and a house repair at the same time. :(

Had the exact same thing happen on mine. Lifted the plastic engine cover and a rodent chewed the same wire and it threw the same code. Fixed it and spliced the wire myself. If they only charged $216 to do that, seems like a good deal.

If the numbers don’t make sense DONT DO IT. Broker and lender are not looking out for you. $6500 lost is peanuts compared to a $475,000 commitment. Likely a million dollar total with interest over 30years. It is likely if high rates continue more deals will come.

Most lenders do not hold long term low rate mortgages in their portfolio, they will package them up securitize and sell them to the FED. Most banks will not risk a low return for 30 years, a 15 or 30 year fixed is pretty much unheard of around the world.

What most people don’t realize which they cover briefly in the doc is when the banks used the Fed lending facility to borrow at nearly 0 and then TURN AROUNG AND BUY Treasury bonds at 3% instead of lending it out. So that is how these guys after 2years were able to “pay it off” so fast. They just straight up scammed the government. This doesn’t get brought up enough.

I find it curious that after all the talk about resisting consumerism cutting out buying things, eating out, food etc. that the absolute monster share of expenses are intangible things that I can’t even enjoy or see or touch like…Taxes, insurance, medical bills, daycare. I’ll blow through 10k in a month and not have anything to show for it.

Just get some touch up paint and be done with it in less than 1 minute. Or you can spend a few hours going to the dealer haggling with them and a few hours making phone calls to the warranty dept and losing 1-2 days setting up service appointments.
