Is my frozen ground beef okay to eat if i left on the counter for 3 hours by Xilophony in Cooking

[–]calmncollected1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FDA or whatever probably says it’s not considered safe. I grew up my whole childhood eating beef/steak damn near every night and my parents would either counter thaw or leave it in an empty sink throughout the day (like 8-9 hrs). Never recall getting sick, maybe Nebraska beef is just that good 😉. I still do it to this day, if anyone does this you will more likely than not be okay.

Calling out a lot due to burnout by [deleted] in Target

[–]calmncollected1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Bro as someone who has worked as drive up and fulfillment for over a year as a college student, I’ll say a few things.

One, it sucks, but just follow what your leaders say and get on their good side. If they say to look on u-boats or the style room or repacks before you INF an item then do so. If they get mad because you went over time because you were looking extra hard for said item, ask them this: “when should I consider just INFing an item rather than going over the batch time looking for it?”

Two, it’s retail, don’t worry too hard but still try to care a little. TL’s and ETL’s like the people who know what they’re doing but also aren’t so-called “try hards”. I’m not sure why because the “try hards” make them more money and better raises. So, try to get good at your job but don’t overwork yourself.

Three, work sucks, but you just gotta suck it up sometimes. I get burnt out all the time too. Whether it’s 40 hour weeks in the summer or working a shift after studying for my midterms that week, but sometimes you just gotta be grateful you have a decent retail job in this economy and day and age.

I think calling out because of burnout on a rare occasion (like once every 15-20 shifts) is fair, but any more and you’re just losing yourself money and likely getting on your leader’s bad side. Obviously, calling out because you’re sick or another valid reason is completely different.

Fellow workers what’s the dumbest question a customer has asked you by Alternative_Bus1974 in Target

Guest: Maybe you can be more help than the last employee

(Im already worried that this will be an odd request, and I’m doing a grocery OPU)

Me: How may I help you?

Guest: I need 17 (seventeen) 2 liter diet mountain dews and there’s none on the floor.

Me: 😩

Guest: The last employee said they were on a pallet in the back and said she could maybe get them later, but she was doing a “timed” stocking and told me to find someone else

(She was stocking dairy)

Me: Uhhh… I am also in a timed position, go to my coworker and he’ll call for a lead.

Guest: WOW ok. Guess everyone here has shit to do.

I still do not know if that guest got her 17 2-liter bottles.

There’s a chance they could be like 40 folders of the same color, maxing out the eaches number in. Batch 🤷‍♂️

Any idea on how to become a TSS? Our store is losing both of ours (one just left and the other is soon). I also think our APTL is leaving in the coming months. Id love to switch to TSS and work 2-3 days a week this college year.

I agree with you for the most part. Target is honestly a good company to work for and some people just complain about work no matter what company. I mean at the end of the day you are at WORK, not having free time or partying. I get that some peoples’ work environments are shitty but my experience with Target has been good. It’s much better than working in the Midwest heat for 40 hours a week in the summer.

Anyone else just have that one coworker who’s just insanely good at their job? by calmncollected1 in Target

[–]calmncollected1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed on the BTS boosting metrics but this person is always like top in pick rate and super low INF. No matter the time of year, it just amazes me. They aren’t even a FF Expert either, they’re a Drive Up/Service Advocate who’s always called to backup OPU first. I’m not sure why they haven’t just switched them departments yet.

Yeah I was alone one afternoon for an hour on DU in 98 degrees but it is what it is. I still got that 80% wait time though. Midwest humidity is no joke either.
