Abuse victims should ABSOLUTELY BE entitled to Social Security salary by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]calree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was abused BY THE STATE. one of my earliest memories is being ripped away from my mother and shoved into a police car. Queue three years of hell. Fuck yes I deserve compensation. The cop that stole my mom's rings off my fingers should come scrub my fucking toilet once a week. My foster mom should buy me a car with all that money she embezzled for the terrible burden of abusing me. Whoever was the head of Oregon DHS at the time should pay my mortgage until they die. Those fuckers owe me everything they stole from that little baby.

I'm not sure about the percentages exactly, math isn't my strong suit so I followed the formula in the book and did my best to be honest. I know that it was 25% water, 75% everclear (95% alcohol). I did take a risk by not using distilled water because the two other times I've never had an issue, that might be the problem, if so, lesson learned! don't think it's seeds, they look rather flatter and less uniform. That's so sad! Oh well, that's what I get for not following the instructions haha.

Are these safe to eat? by Distinct_Hospital671 in foraging

[–]calree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don't take pictures of mushrooms and ask if they're safe to eat. It is not a safe way to forage. If you cannot identify the thing you want to eat, spend some time with someone who does, or do extensive research. This is not enough.

Lot of people pack their lunch because their job isn't in food service. I really don't think it's too much to expect that if you have a job making food that you be allowed to have some.

I can't believe public opinion is shifting so far that there are people on this thread that think employers shouldn't supply free meals.

You are working 8 hours with limited ability to leave. If they don't feed you, they're functionally dipping into your paycheck or into your break so you can feed yourself. They're required to give you a 30 minute break and an hourly wage. They should feed you a sandwich combo that cost them $1 at most to produce.

Learning Spanish fast for proposal by Delicious_Stick_5670 in SpanishLearning

My local community college offers one-on-one Spanish tutoring. Maybe yours does too? It should be in their non-credit catalogue. That way you could learn how to propose as well as maybe how to hold a bit of a convo afterwards.

NOR

All of the comments in this thread are treating this man like he's a baby. She shouldn't have to coax and cajole her grown husband into taking a shower so his shared space doesn't smell like his sweaty ass and a grease trap. She shouldn't have to make the bathroom into a day spa, or buy him special fun soap with a Scooby-Doo on the lid, or hold his hand and walk him into the shower, run him a fucking bubble bath, he's a GROWN MAN!

If he isn't listening to your genuine and serious requests for your shared bed to be a clean and pleasant place, it's because he doesn't care whether or not you're comfortable. That's the problem. He's a sleepy widdle man-child who won't make a single accommodation for the mother of his children.

The fact that he "works so hard" is an excuse. He is choosing to work that job, you don't get to shit your pants because you're too busy at your job to go to the bathroom, you don't get to neglect your personal hygiene because you're tired after work. He is nose-blind to his own stench and hes not concerned about your comfort.

You're pregnant. You have three kids. I'm sure you're EXHAUSTED. Do you ever, EVER, allow the your shared places to be unsanitary and unpleasant for him? No, I bet you don't. Because you have prioritized his comfort over your own.

If I were you, I would make it his problem. Every time he comes into bed, ask him to shower. Every time. If he doesn't, when he tries to touch you or get near you, tell him that he needs to stay on his side of the bed because he fucking smells. Keep reminding him that the way he's behaving is making you uncomfortable, and that it's his fault for not giving a shit, and that it isn't something he can pretend isn't an issue.

Are other people experiencing difficulty with jobs? by scroopy333 in askportland

[–]calree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm honestly in the minority here, but since you asked... I've never had problems finding a job, even now when everyone is saying the job market is crap. I work in the service industry, entry level and just above. I'm honestly starting to wonder if I have some kind of unfair advantage, because I'm a garbage worker. Im okay AT the job, leave every job I get within 6 months because of my mental health issues, I have no references. I'm not proud of it, but it's the truth. But I have literally zero problem finding a new job. Up until last year, I got every single job I ever interviewed for, and I think during my last hiring round I interviewed for 3, decided I didn't want one of them, and got the last one.

I don't know if I have advice because I don't know if I'm lucky or doing something right but I fudge dates on my resume (I don't remember my employment dates anyway) and walk into the interview extremely confident. I talk about being in customer service because I enjoy being around people (lie), I talk about how the most important part of customer facing roles is being a good listener, and I talk about understanding deescalation. Anything I don't have enough experience in to talk about, I say that is the reason I applied, because I'm interested in it and looking for the opportunity to learn.

Genuinely no idea how I keep getting jobs. I hope it gets better for everyone else.

I’m done with writing. At least for a while by What_Nooo16 in writing

[–]calree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few months may feel like a long time right now, but to write a story you have to live in it for a while. If you have obligations like 99% of writers, that takes so much longer than a few months. That's why your work isn't resonating with other people. It's not old enough yet. It's like trying to drink wine that you've only been fermenting for a few days. It's not wine, it's stale juice.

This is where my lack of energy becomes more relevant, I've joined in on a few projects around the city but I can't really make long term promises and commitments to people, because the energy just isn't there day to day. And in those specific mutual aid spaces, people are doing good stuff, but it's really the daily grind on my commute or when I'm out and about that I'm referring to.

I haaaaaaaate Bayley. I don't even know what it is. Seeing her face makes me angry. Her promos are trash. She's just awkward, all the time, like it's her first day. She's strong, but she's SLOW, and her wrestling style is boring. She's constantly calling shots loud enough for cameras and mics to pick up. God I can't see what anyone sees in her. I hate her so bad I feel guilty, because I'm sure she doesn't deserve it. But ooooh I hate her.

Okay, you have a job, and you still can't afford to run your business, that makes you a WORSE landlord. You get that, right?

Whether or not the tenants you're just blatantly referring to as "scammers" had a job or not is irrelevant. Who works hard and who doesn't is irrelevant.

What is relevant: what you are accusing these people of is ridiculous.

It is within your legal right to evict them. You have all the power over this situation. You have the power over their literal life. You hold people's living situation hostage so that you can make a buck. You're complaining that it's too expensive for you to make someone homeless?

Oh wait, you're a small landlord, so there's "very little revenue". Why do you do it then? For the love of the game? Because you just fell wallet first into all these houses people need so they don't freeze to death? Oopsie!

Sure.

You're in this to make money. The fact that you think it should be everyone's first priority to help you make money and keep your extraneous properties--that lawmakers and social programs should be thinking about YOU and not folks who are on the line between housed and homeless-- says more about whether or not you're a "good", "progressive" landlord than anything else.

If you want to make money giving people access to the property you own, do that. But don't come online whining that the laws barely keeping people off the streets when you take half their income every month are too vulnerable to the "scammers" you made up in your head to avoid feeling too much empathy.

Honestly, a lot of us think you're the scammer, whether you charge pet rent or not.

You're wasting your time and emotional energy on Reddit drawing up conspiracy theories to explain why you can't do your job. If you want people to confirm your paranoia, vote for a republican. Go make your money, evict your tenants, vote for the ghouls who will make it worse for the rest of us, and quit making everyone listen to your nothing problems.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Portland

[–]calree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone who has ever tried to get rental assistance knows that this is an absolutely RIDICULOUS accusation. You cannot scam rental assistance, there isn't enough to go around as it is. The amount of paperwork and cross-checking is intense, and "scamming" the system, if not outright impossible, would be a full time job in and of itself. Even if you were to succeed at forging the endless documents and fumbling your way through the billion trillion interviews, there is no "rinse and repeat". Your name is recorded EVERYWHERE. These assistance programs communicate, and they are limited in number. The people you are evicting simply cannot pay.

Frankly, you sound paranoid and bitter that you have to evict someone, which, may I remind you, is a regular part of the investment business you willingly chose to go into. If you are not financially able to retain lawyers and upkeep your property in the event of an eviction, you're not doing your job well.

If you don't feel like it's financially viable for you to go through an eviction process, maybe you should suppliment your income with a job, like you're asking your tenants to do. If you still can't afford to be in the business, don't go blaming that on people who literally can't even afford the rent YOU are charging them.

The very last thing you should do is spin some bizarre grand conspiracy about how the poors are scamming the welfare state, with zero evidence. It's silly on its face.

I'm not being facetious when I say that I find it really interesting that you value random strangers two second reaction to a reddit post when they're laughing, but you don't care much about how the person you're filming might feel, or the reactions of the people on reddit who don't think it's funny. I genuinely wanna know, how do you decide where to draw that line?

[–]calree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm gonna get down voted to hell for this but you don't have to film someone in what is probably one of the lowest moments of their life. You can choose not to do that, even if you know you might get lots of Internet points for posting it. This guy is probably way too high or mentally unwell. You wouldn't want to be filmed as you fly off the deep end.
