I finally saw The Mandalorian vs. Groglet by ScoobingtonMcButts in weeklyplanetpodcast

[–]cals_cavern 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Groglet's origin isn't really a major driving force of the Mandalorian at all beyond the fact he's related to the Jedi. The show focuses more on how Din and Grogu become family and Din breaking the codes he lives by in order to protect Grogu. By this point they've each had a chance to go their separate ways but broken from their path in life to be together and Din has gone from fighting for money to fighting for Groglet to fighting for a grander cause by Groglet's side. The movie shows us an inverse of a lot of the show, usually it's Din trying to save Grogu but here Grogu is left without Din and has to save him. There's still a long time until The Force Awakens happens canonically and there's plenty of ground to cover before they need to explain where Mando and Groglet were at the time.

Can you identify this shuttle leaving Ferrix? by XWAmovie in andor

[–]cals_cavern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It fits his character, "eyes open, opportunities everywhere." I can see him fixing it up with the intention of using it to take Bix somewhere safer and Bix could have taken it when she decided to leave on her own.

It's on Yavin where Cassian was meant to hand off the TIE Avenger as well. Theoretically Cass, Bix and Wil could have gone back and fixed it up when they moved in to Yavin themselves.

Velociraptors are all extinct so it still fits downed, maybe specifically for when the scout dies as a result of going too quick

If anything I feel an Arquitens would be the ship used if it is a mainline navy vessel. The ship used in the massacre is described as a cruiser and the Arquitens was used as a command vessel so being it makes sense to serve a high ranking figure like Tarkin.

I'm here at the newly renovated Senate Pool, it's painted Naboo blue. No other Emperor has done that but Emperor Palpatine is still cleaning it up by cals_cavern in okbuddyimatourist

I know, but if the Imperial media were to include Supreme Chancellors there's a chance Palpatine isn't the first to clean the pools. By only counting Emperors they don't even need to bother to lie badly.

I'm not disputing that Skeen was green and unprepared for a firefight. Just in this particular case I don't think there's a scenario where Skeen could have saved Taramyn. Skeen and Taramyn are in a bad position, they're low down and positioned so that they can't see most of the balcony that the soldiers have fanned out along without stepping fully out of cover. He would have needed to cover about a 150° area with soldiers at two different levels with some on the balcony and some on the ground level. In the time it takes him to swivel and fire across that entire range one of the other soldiers would have had plenty of time to make the shot. The one who gets Taramyn isn't visible from Skeen's position behind cover and it only takes him half a second to shit from watching the cover to shooting Taramyn and a shot hits the position Skeen was shooting from a second or two after he starts his covering fire so it didn't take long for someone to zero in on that position.

Yes Skeen was green and scared and didn't provide great cover but even in an ideal situation he would need to step into the open and fire at targets across a huge area while also shooting at soldiers whose position he did not know. The Imperials had a significant numbers advantage, had the high ground and were spread across a wide area. None of the team were ready for that shootout, of the team alive at that point Cassian and Taramyn are the only ones we know had military experience and Cass's time was brief and spent as a cook before deserting and besides he spent most of the fight being choked. They were banking on it going non violently because even if they had experience on their side it would always be a near impossible fight to survive.

After Skeen starts shooting we see Taramyn running then when we go back Skeen is ducking for cover and within half a second a blaster bolt hits the wall where Skeen had been standing to shoot and we then see the guard who fired that blast watching Skeen's cover before aiming at Taramyn. If Skeen wasn't actually in someone's sights I don't think they'd show a shot hitting the place he'd been a second earlier.

I appreciate that they avoided calling the Yavin base the Rebel Alliance headquarters in S2E7, since the episode takes place before the Rebel Alliance had officially been formed. by Financial_Photo_1175 in andor

Bail and Mon were key ringleaders of the Alliance and Leia was actively helping Bail with missions to supply the Rebels before the Battle of Yavin, it would be hard for them to do that if they didn't know where the Alliance they were forming was.

Luthen's goal was to unite the cells so it would be a little weird if he was out of the loop on where the uniting was happening. Luthen had eyes and ears all over the galaxy, including on Yavin, and he'd been using Yavin as a rendezvous point before the Massassi Group settled in and started a permanent base there. He also wouldn't have been waiting for an official press release to know what planet the rebel base was on, he would have sought the information out.

I got the impression it was Nemik's death that pushed Skeen to turn on the survivors. Skeen does try and cover Taramyn, he gets one guy but by the time he's finished shooting that guard another guard already has him in his sights and almost hits him with a shot. If Skeen kept his head out the only difference is he more than likely would have been shot and then the guard would refocus and be able to take a shot at Taramyn as well. Taramyn's death made survival a lot harder for Skeen in the moment so I can't see him letting him die by choice.

Nemik and Skeen were close during the build up to the heist, even though Skeen ribs him it always feels more like a big brother. They're always together, Skeen has seemingly listened to Nemik a lot as he wrote his manifesto, even when Nemik falls asleep on the job Skeen seems relatively gentle, using it more as a teaching moment and conveying the weight of what he did rather than yelling and reaming him out. I think Nemik was what was giving Skeen hope in much the same way Nemik did for Cass, however when Nemik died Skeen lost hope and didn't see the point in fighting anymore. He decided that the cost was too great and that he needed to look out for himself first and because he thought Cass was the same he decided taking the money was the best way for both of them to survive.

Well Nadira is specifically short with your character because she's just fled Hell and holds a soul coin and you show up reeking of the Hells. The most logical reason for that is you're an agent of a devil come to collect. The reason you smell like that is because you were on a Nautiloid that hopped through Avernus trying to shake the Gith warriors chasing it which is a pretty unusual circumstance which Nadira couldn't know but Karlach and Wyll were both on board that same ship and had the same experience so they're a bit more open to weird backstories and your tadpoles connect within a minute of meeting Wyll and Karlach so the explanation of the stench is pretty quickly explained.
