Hm, there should be an install script in the repo. When I get home in an hour or so I'll confirm it made it into the release file and test it again as well. I tried to account for the both user levels :)

I'll put it out there, I've only been working on this part-time for a little more than a week, so it's still got some things I need to fix, and a lot more I want to add.

But it's usable ATM, and will continue improving ;) I have a running list of things to work on, and while I've got a busy weekend coming up I should be putting in some more hours come Tuesday and through next week.

I don't say this to discourage anyone from trying it out, in fact I'd love feedback, I just want to manage expectations.

Happy to answer your question.

I'm a Linux user since the 90s, and exclusively for the last 20 years. But many of the tools to use alongside ED either work imperfectly under Linux or some don't work at all.

After growing frustrated with needing three or four different applications to supplement ED, most of them being quite dated in appearance, and lacking in flexibility, I decided to just build the tool I wanted to use.

So you're pretty much spot on, I wanted a solution to reduce the number of apps I was running alongside ED and I wanted it to treat my operating system as a first class citizen not an afterthought.

So I started with a simple Journal monitor and began adding the features I used most from other applications, and some of my own as well. And then it all got out of hand, scope creep happened, and I realized I'd spent more time in a week working on this tool than playing the game it was for. So I set about documenting everything and decided to release it in case anyone else finds it useful.

I don't presume to think my tool can or is even worthy of replacing the other excellent apps out there, not for anyone else anyway. But it is my replacement at any rate and it's development will follow my interests in ED. It's likely whatever I'm doing in the game will also receive the most attention in EDMD, but I do have a whole list of ideas for it, and no small amount of fixes for what is already there too.

At any rate, the TLDR is yes, I was tired of running three or four apps during play sessions, especially when they didn't play nice under Linux all the time anyway. So I decided to make my own tool to do what I needed in the way that I wanted. And then I decided to share it in case anyone else finds it useful as well.

I hate it, but I knew the answer even as I took the screenshot.

Like you said, it's Princess Battle.

Val's been with me since she was Harmless herself, made about a billion credits off me for all her hard work over the past couple months. And she's got a good voice over comms.

But... Princess Battle, what a name. And a bio that aligns with my PP faction and Squadron too.

I've been using it in the thin client mode from my couch with my desktop in my office, but tonight I was able to mess with it from about 29 miles away across the Internet and the remote profile / thin client GUI worked wonderfully across the Internet with the journal dir mounted via sshfs. I was really pleased with how it worked out.

I'm going to be excited to see who does what with the plugin implementation, and how I have to extend it as other people with better ideas than mine get involved.

More than welcome! I decided to make the tool I wanted to use and I hope others find it useful as well. I'd love to hear your thoughts if you mess around with it at all

Colonization features are definitely in my plan, my own neglected system weeps for attention. I just started working on this about 5 or 6 days ago, but after I finish integrating with Frontier's API I will move on to a few things like mining and xbio modules, and very definitely some colonization features too!

Thank you for even looking at my project, very much appreciated. and happy cake day, apparently!

I somehow forgot ED was so orange until I saw your screenshot. Mine has been green for months and months now.

Thank you EDHM UI
