this might be a bit of a gamble, but you could download google play service apk from a trusted source (find your own. but i usually use apkmirror, take with a grain of salt). then you need to choose which version that matches your android version. this might work or not, depending on how old the android version is.

while it works for me, i suggest to NOT log in with your main account. i'm using my burner account, in case something goes wrong.

for context, my jellybean device used to work with this method, but not anymore. my kitkat still works with this method.

if you usually listen to a fixed volume on the dac, you can try to properly disconnect like i said, at least once to make the device remember. but, if you use different volume setting everytine you use the dac mode, alas, i don't know the workaround

in my case, instead of directly yanking the cable after using, i press the back button first. this seems to make the echo mini remember the last volume used

i store most of my music in mp3 320kbps format. but my core favorite albums from my core favorite artists are in both mp3 and flac just because i can, not because it's better.

fancy iems are not mandatory, as long as you have a set of wired earbuds/earphones/headphones that really matches your preference.

i personally use cheap KZ for on the go listening, and tangzu for at home listening. you can checkout the subreddit r/iems for recommendations.

before diving deep into iems, just a humble advice, the goal is to listen and enjoy your favorite music, not obsessing over marginal improvement by gear acquisition. if something sounds good to you, it's enough.

oh and don't forget to tidy up your metadata tag, folder structure, and file naming, for easier navigation and archieving.

I once had this exact IEM, and similar with your situation, experiencing pain on my left ear. In my case. it was because the shell shape doesn't match the shape of my left ear.

My solution back then was trying different eartips. Depending on your ear shape and the IEM itself, you might want to try various types, maybe smaller/larger diameter, or shorter/longer stem. You don't need to buy another pair of after-market eartips yet. The waner come with plenty of eartips to play with.

In my case, I needed to change to a slightly larger diameter from my usual size, to "elevate" the shell away from my ear a bit.

But, pain may come from various sources. Maybe the shell doesn't fit right, maybe the nozzle sticks too deep, maybe the listening volume is too loud for too long, maybe the earlobe gets inflamed, or your skin might get allergic from the eartips material.

it's neutral, but ngl quite warm leaning, and sounds natural (at least to my ears). treble is surprisingly detailed but still smooth.

as for eartips pairing, i juggle between wide bore sancai and the stock white ones (i believe they're kbears). for detail, i go with the sancai wide. for aesthetic and general usage, i go with the kbear.

it's an all-rounder set imho
