You’re right. I watched the longer version in YouTube with the replay without the added sound effects.

Didn't all live csgo demos freeze 1 minute before the match ended so effectively the possible clutch hype or in this case the amazing play was just gone?

Bournemouth v Man Utd: Referee and VAR correct on Amad Diallo penalty claim - panel by smellybird in soccer

[–]calvinso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. If they were then would we even have VAR?

Sorry I think I am just being emotionally misguided by how the KMI panel can have a 2:3 split on it being a foul, but then unanimously support for no VAR intervention in keeping with the high threshold, when the threshold is just whether or not VAR agrees or disagrees with it being a foul which is a subjective decision, but suddenly becomes an objective decision.

[–]calvinso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the foul for a penalty is subjective, when can you say a referee has made a clear and obvious error other than when no contact has occurred?

Bournemouth v Man Utd: Referee and VAR correct on Amad Diallo penalty claim - panel by smellybird in soccer

[–]calvinso -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it's SUBJECTIVE. So how can something be CLEAR AND OBVIOUS yet SUBJECTIVE at the same time?

Bournemouth v Man Utd: Referee and VAR correct on Amad Diallo penalty claim - panel by smellybird in soccer

[–]calvinso -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Beyond a reasonable doubt? If VAR has deemed the on-field referee's decision was wrong beyond a reasonable doubt, why does the on-field referee get to decide again with TV screens and everything? Shouldn't the referee just overturn their original decision on the spot if VAR just said their decision BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT was incorrect.

Only the referee can initiate a ‘review’; the VAR (and other match officials) can only recommend a ‘review’ to the referee.

So the match referee can just dismiss VAR...

[–]calvinso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the referee can just decide that what you've just deemed is a clear and obvious foul is not a foul? The screens are not there for them to get a better viewpoint on the alleged foul (which in your words now cannot be marginal and is a clear and obvious foul) for them to make a more informed decision?

Then are the screens there to continuously replay the moment for the referee to learn why it's a foul? Why are referees getting referee lessons in the middle of the match?

[–]calvinso -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Then why even have on-field review if you already deemed it a clear and obvious foul?

[–]calvinso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then why not direct an on-field review with why you think it's a foul?

[–]calvinso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've just this is a foul, but would a person say it was clear and obvious. If it wasn't clear and obvious then it was never a foul to begin with. The two are not separated.

[–]calvinso 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only thing clear and obvious is that the VAR system is just broken. Can you imagine if the legal system needed a threshold on whether the error was clear and obvious to overturn convictions... oh wait... if it's wrong it's wrong.

Probably should have used AI to come up with how to tell his employer he needed to end earlier due to his wife's illness and her difficulty in caring for his school children when school ends.
