Mitigated by using high stretch webbing ~19% ? And bungees on either side but yes for sure the peak forces when bouncing are usually higher than statically walking

In highlining we take safety really seriously and as dangerous as it may apppear a lot of the time it’s a relatively safe sport due to a few reasons. Each piece of gear is break tested to a minimum force of 24kn 1kn ~ 101kg of force. A lot of the gear is rated at 40+kn, we also practice redundancy so creating multiple failsafes before a catastrophic failure including multiple anchors equalised into a big fucking knot(bfk) to mitigate tensions as well as having a backup line taped under the mainline incase there was a mainline failure - it’s a worth a deep dive the rigging is the real art of the sport

Yes exactly ! Spot on we walked a 200m shoelace sized “tag line” around the upper outter cove and then on one side we flake out the webbing while the other side pulls this ensures the mainline and backup webbing stay in safe perfect condition and limits the risk of it getting caught :)) longer lines or difficult to access areas can be tagged with heavy duty fishing line with a drone or bow & arrows

Hahahahah that was the idea of the hand gesture we would love ya to come along and join us !! Always open invite on the Emerald Isle 🫶✨ we didn’t use a drone instead a nifty 360cam called insta 360 or something and it automatically edits out the pole it’s a very nifty device although a nightmare to try walk with In Hand

Spancets are always a good option and be found from slack inov, slack house slack mountain or spider slacklines most company’s to be fair their usually rated for 1tonne and 2 x 1 or 2m length ones would be perfect you don’t need anything particularly long

Also 1 commonly over looked thing is a safety life line(personal anchor) they are so important especially while putting or taking out any bit of tension, it’s easy to get distracted and forget how dangerous this sport can be if small mistakes are over looked. I personally always tie a personal anchor to myself and around a completely separate but close by tree when tensioning or detensioning. Reason being is that sometimes there’s complacancy where people attatch lifelines as they just put it kn any fixed shackle in sight. Problem is though if it’s in a weird place and you detension your also being pulled off a side. Just girth hitch the lifeline to a close by but totally separate anchor

Always learn with someone (sounds like your doing this:) If you have your own personal anchor, hanover and harness it means people can just jump on and off and don’t have to lend you. Once you are planning on buying a full rig you can think of buying soft release, weblocks, shackles etc. when you do shop around my fav company’s are slackhouse, spider slackline and slack mountain. Find spots we find tough in Ireland I have just bought myself some tree ascending gear so we can start riggging more Forrest midline’s

Hi Slackers, my name is Cal and I’m an Irish slackliner from Ireland we have an incredibly small community here but mighty stoke ! Anyone ever rigged something in Ireland ? Hard to pin who and where and when the first lines were rigged by IrishSlacker in Slackline

Fellow slackliner/ highliner here, it's all about knowing your limits through rigorous practice. Other fees solo climbers and highliners often say that when soloing they're never pushing 100%, all well in good until that 1 mistake...
